SDI check issued 1/16 still not received - USPS investigating. What to do?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. My disability check was supposed to be issued on January 16th for $1,045, but it's been over a week and I still haven't received it in the mail. I've already contacted the post office, and they're doing an investigation. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. Have you tried calling the disability office directly? Sometimes they can cancel the original check and reissue a new one if it's been lost in the mail.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give them a call tomorrow. Fingers crossed they can help me out 🤞

Good luck OP! Let us know how it goes. The waiting game is the worst 😫

I had a similar issue last year. It turned out the check was sent to my old address even though I had updated it in their system. Might be worth double-checking your address on file with them.

Man, the postal service has been a mess lately. I've had so many issues with delayed mail. Hope you get your check soon!

For real tho! I'm still waiting on Christmas cards from last year lol 🎅

Hey, I found a method to get someone on the phone at the disability office. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was ready. Way better than wasting a whole day on hold!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call the disability office ASAP. Tell them your check hasn't arrived and the post office is investigating. 2. Ask them to cancel the original check and issue a new one. 3. Verify your mailing address with them to ensure it's correct. 4. If possible, see if they can set up direct deposit for future payments. It's much more reliable. 5. Keep following up with the post office on their investigation. 6. Document everything - dates you called, who you spoke to, what they said. 7. If you're in dire need, ask about emergency payment options. Don't give up! It's frustrating, but persistence is key when dealing with bureaucracy. Good luck!

Just double-checked and nope, nothing there. But thanks for the suggestion!

This happened to me once. Turns out my neighbor accidentally got my mail and didn't realize it for weeks. Might be worth asking around your building/neighborhood just in case!

OP, if you're really strapped for cash while waiting, you might wanna look into local food banks or assistance programs. Some churches and community centers offer emergency help too. Hang in there!

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully it won't come to that, but good to know there are options if things get tight.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we're still relying on paper checks in 2025? The whole system needs an overhaul smh

Preach! 👏 It's like they're stuck in the stone age or smthn

For real. My grandma gets her social security by carrier pigeon and it's more reliable than this 🐦💸
