EDD silent after disability extension and document submission - No check received yet
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My disability was extended, which is great news, but I haven't received my check yet. I got an email saying I needed to complete some document, which I did right away. It's been radio silence from EDD since then. Anyone else dealing with this? Any idea how long it usually takes for them to process these things?

Ugh, classic EDD. They're always slow as molasses. I had a similar situation last year and it took them like 6 weeks to get back to me. Hang in there!

β’6 weeks?! That's insane. How are people supposed to survive that long without income? π‘

β’I know, right? It's ridiculous. I had to borrow money from family just to make rent. The system is so broken.

β’Yep, same boat here. Ended up maxing out my credit cards waiting for EDD to get their act together. πΈπ

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can speed things up. Just be prepared to be on hold for hours lol

β’Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have a better chance of getting through.

Listen up, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

β’I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get some answers and move my claim forward. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for way too long: β’ Always keep copies of everything you submit β’ Follow up every week if you don't hear back β’ Use their online portal to send messages (sometimes faster than calling) β’ If you do call, try different times of day β’ Consider reaching out to your local assembly member's office for help Hope this helps! The system is a mess, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

β’Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my assembly member.

I swear, dealing with EDD is like playing the lottery. Sometimes you get lucky and things move quickly, other times it's like shouting into the void. π°π€‘

β’LOL too true. EDD should change their motto to 'May the odds be ever in your favor' π€£

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you filled out the form correctly? I once spent weeks waiting only to realize I had made a tiny error on the form. π€¦ββοΈ

β’Oh man, I hope that's not the case. I'll go back and review everything just to be sure. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey OP, how long has it been since you submitted the document? If it's been more than 3 weeks, you might want to consider filing an appeal.

β’It's been about 2 weeks now. I'll give it another week and then look into the appeal process. Thanks for the suggestion!
