EDD Disability: No benefits since August after submitting DE 2593. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my disability benefits. I submitted the continuing eligibility questionnaire (DE 2593) over a month ago, but I haven't received any benefits since mid-August. I've been on disability since May. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get through to EDD and resolve this issue?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I went through something similar last year. Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare to get through, but it's probably your best bet.

β’I've been trying to call, but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or they hang up on me. It's so frustrating!

β’Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59 AM. It's still tough, but your chances are way better.

β’Calling is useless tbh. I've had better luck with their online portal. Have you tried submitting a question there?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

β’I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO.

β’How long did it take for them to get through?

β’It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of when you submitted the form, any correspondence, and your attempts to contact them. 2. Try reaching out via their social media channels. Sometimes they're more responsive there. 3. Contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 4. If all else fails, file a complaint with the Department of Labor. It's a nuclear option, but it can light a fire under them. Hang in there! The system is broken, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

β’Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep. Didn't even think of that.

β’This is solid advice. I'd add: make sure to follow up on EVERYTHING. Don't assume they're processing anything without confirmation.

I'm in the exact same boat π£ββοΈ Submitted my form in early August and radio silence since then. This whole system is a joke. Good luck, OP!

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you filled out the DE 2593 correctly? I messed up one little thing on mine and it delayed everything by months. π€¦ββοΈ

β’Always worth a double-check. The EDD loves to use any excuse to delay payments. π

I'm going through something similar right now! Been waiting since late August after submitting my DE 2593. What's really frustrating is that there's no clear timeline they give you - you just have to wait and hope. I've been checking my online account daily but the status hasn't changed. Has anyone had luck with sending a follow-up message through the online portal, or does that just create more delays? Really hoping we can all get this sorted out soon!

I'm so sorry you're going through this - the waiting is absolutely brutal! I actually just got through a similar situation last month. After my DE 2593 sat in limbo for 6 weeks, I finally got movement by doing a combination of things: I called right at 8am (took about 15 tries over 3 days), sent a message through the online portal explaining the delay, AND reached out to my assemblymember's office. Not sure which one did the trick, but within a week I had someone call me back and my payments resumed. The rep told me there's apparently a backlog of these forms and some just get "stuck" in the system. Don't give up - keep trying multiple channels and document everything. Hang in there! πͺ

β’This is really encouraging to hear! I'm dealing with the exact same thing right now - submitted my DE 2593 in early September and still waiting. Did you notice any changes in your online account before they called you back, or did the rep just reach out out of the blue? Also, when you reached out to your assemblymember's office, did you have to provide a lot of documentation or was it pretty straightforward? Thanks for sharing your experience - it gives me hope that there's light at the end of this tunnel!

I'm dealing with the exact same issue! Submitted my DE 2593 in mid-August and haven't seen a penny since then. It's incredibly stressful not knowing when (or if) the payments will resume. I've tried calling multiple times but can never get through - the phone system is absolutely broken. One thing I discovered is that you can check if there are any "pending issues" on your claim by logging into your EDD account and looking at the claim details page. Mine shows "under review" but no other details. Has anyone else noticed specific status messages that might indicate progress? I'm also wondering if anyone has had success with the "Contact EDD" form on their website? I submitted one last week but haven't heard back yet. At this point I'm willing to try anything - the financial stress is really getting to me. Thanks for posting about this, it helps to know I'm not alone in this nightmare!

β’I'm in a very similar situation - submitted my DE 2593 in early September and it's been radio silence ever since. The "under review" status is so vague and unhelpful! I haven't tried the Contact EDD form yet but after reading your post I think I'll give it a shot too. The financial stress is definitely real - it's hard to plan anything when you don't know if or when payments will come through. Have you considered trying the early morning calling strategy that others mentioned? I keep telling myself I'll try it but haven't mustered up the energy to set that 8am alarm yet. Hang in there - hopefully we'll both see some movement soon! π€

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my DE 2593 in late August and it's been complete silence since then. The worst part is having no idea what's going on or when it might get resolved. I've been surviving on savings but that's running thin fast. I tried the early morning calling strategy mentioned here - set my alarm for 7:55 AM and started dialing right at 8. Took me about 20 attempts over two days but I finally got through! The rep told me there's a massive backlog of DE 2593 forms and some are just sitting in a queue waiting to be processed. She couldn't give me a timeline but at least put a note on my account to expedite review. For anyone still trying to get through - persistence is key. Also try calling on Tuesday or Wednesday, avoid Mondays and Fridays if possible. And definitely document everything like others have said. I've been keeping a spreadsheet with dates, times I called, and any info I get. This whole system is so broken, but don't give up! We'll get through this eventually. πͺ

β’Thank you so much for sharing this! It's really helpful to hear from someone who actually got through to a rep. I'm definitely going to try the Tuesday/Wednesday calling strategy - that's a great tip I hadn't heard before. The spreadsheet idea is brilliant too, I'm going to start tracking everything properly. It's so frustrating that there's such a massive backlog, but at least knowing that gives some context for the delays. Did the rep mention anything about how long the "expedited review" typically takes? Fingers crossed that putting a note on your account actually helps speed things up! π€

I'm dealing with this exact same situation and it's absolutely maddening! Submitted my DE 2593 back in early September and my benefits just stopped with zero explanation. What makes it worse is that I've been on disability since June, so this isn't even a new claim - just the routine continuing eligibility form. I've tried everything mentioned here: calling at 8am (no luck yet after a week of attempts), sending messages through the online portal (no response), and even reached out on their social media. My claim status just says "under review" which tells me absolutely nothing useful. The financial stress is unreal - I'm having to choose between groceries and medications at this point. It's crazy that they can just cut off people's lifeline without any communication or timeline for resolution. One thing I noticed is that my last payment was actually split into two smaller payments before stopping completely - did anyone else experience this? Not sure if it means anything but seems weird. Thanks for starting this thread OP, it's somehow both comforting and depressing to know so many of us are in the same boat. Really hoping we all get answers soon! π

β’I'm so sorry you're going through this too! The split payment thing is actually interesting - I haven't experienced that myself but it might indicate they were processing something in your account before hitting whatever roadblock is causing the delays. Have you tried documenting that detail when you contact them? It might be a useful data point for whoever eventually reviews your case. The choosing between groceries and medications part hits way too close to home - this system is absolutely failing the people who need it most. Hang in there, and definitely keep trying that 8am calling strategy. From what others have shared, persistence really does seem to pay off eventually! π

I'm so sorry you're going through this - the DE 2593 delays seem to be affecting a lot of people right now! I just went through something similar and finally got it resolved after about 7 weeks of waiting. Here's what worked for me: 1. I kept a detailed log of every interaction (dates, times, reference numbers) 2. Called right at 8:00 AM on Tuesdays - it took about 12 attempts over 4 days but I finally got through 3. When I reached a rep, I had all my documentation ready and clearly explained the timeline 4. The rep told me that DE 2593 forms are currently taking 6-10 weeks to process due to staffing issues The rep also mentioned that if you don't hear anything within 10 weeks, you should definitely escalate to your assemblymember's office. In my case, they were able to push my form through once they had a human review it. Don't give up! The system is definitely broken but persistence does pay off. Your benefits should be backdated to when they were supposed to resume, so you won't lose any money - just dealing with the cash flow nightmare in the meantime. Keep trying that early morning calling strategy and document everything. You've got this! πͺ

β’Thank you so much for sharing your experience and the detailed breakdown! This is incredibly helpful - I'm definitely going to start that documentation log right away. The 6-10 week processing time is awful but at least gives me a realistic expectation of what we're dealing with. I'm encouraged to hear that your benefits were backdated once everything got sorted out. That's one less thing to worry about in this whole mess. Going to set my alarm for tomorrow morning and start the Tuesday calling marathon. Really appreciate you taking the time to share what worked for you - gives me hope that there's actually a path through this nightmare! π

I'm in the exact same situation and it's beyond frustrating! Submitted my DE 2593 in early September and haven't seen a dime since then. The lack of communication is the worst part - you'd think they could at least send an automated update letting us know our forms are being processed. I've been reading through all the advice here and I'm definitely going to try the Tuesday morning calling strategy. Has anyone had any luck with the EDD's live chat feature? I noticed they have it on their website but I'm not sure if it's actually helpful or just another dead end. Also wondering if anyone knows - when benefits do finally resume, do they typically process all the backdated payments at once or do they trickle them out over several weeks? Just trying to plan financially while we're all stuck in this nightmare. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. It's awful that so many of us are dealing with this, but it definitely helps to know we're not alone! π€

β’I haven't had any luck with the live chat feature - every time I've tried it just says agents are busy and to try again later. Seems like it's just as overwhelmed as their phone system unfortunately. As for the backdated payments, from what I've seen others mention, they usually process them all at once when your claim gets resolved, but it can take a few business days to actually hit your account. The waiting is absolutely brutal but hang in there! The Tuesday morning calling strategy seems to be the most reliable way to actually reach someone based on what others have shared here.

I'm dealing with the exact same nightmare! Submitted my DE 2593 in mid-September and it's been complete radio silence since then. What's really frustrating is that I was getting my regular payments just fine for months, then suddenly everything stopped after submitting that form. I've been lurking on this thread for a while and finally decided to create an account because reading everyone's experiences has been both helpful and reassuring that I'm not going crazy. The lack of communication from EDD is absolutely unacceptable - how hard would it be to send a simple status update? I'm definitely going to try the Tuesday 8am calling strategy that several people have mentioned. Has anyone tried calling multiple EDD numbers? I've only been trying the main disability line but wondering if there are other numbers that might have shorter wait times. Also, for those who finally got through - did the reps give you any insight into WHY these DE 2593 forms are getting stuck in the system? Is it just volume or are there actual processing issues they're dealing with? Thanks to everyone sharing their stories and advice. This community is a lifeline when the actual system is failing us so badly! π

β’Welcome to the community! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too - the DE 2593 delays are definitely a widespread issue right now. I've been following this thread closely and from what others have shared, it seems like there are multiple factors causing the backlog: staffing shortages, system glitches, and just the sheer volume of forms they're processing. Some folks mentioned that forms are literally just sitting in queues waiting for human review. As for other numbers to try, I've seen people mention the general EDD line sometimes transfers you faster than going directly to disability, but results seem mixed. The Tuesday 8am strategy really does seem to be the most consistent advice from people who've gotten through. Keep documenting everything and don't give up - from what I've seen here, persistence eventually pays off and the payments do get backdated once resolved! πͺ

I'm so sorry you're going through this - the DE 2593 nightmare is real! I was in your exact situation a few months ago. Submitted my form in July and didn't see benefits for almost 8 weeks. What finally worked for me was a combination approach: 1. Called at exactly 8:00 AM on Tuesdays/Wednesdays (avoid Mondays/Fridays) 2. Reached out to my state assemblymember's office - they have EDD liaisons who can actually get things moving 3. Kept detailed records of every attempt and interaction The assemblymember route was honestly a game-changer. Their office contacted EDD on my behalf and within 2 weeks I had my benefits restored with full back pay. Don't be afraid to escalate - that's what they're there for! Also, make sure to check your online account for any "pending issues" that might not be obvious. Sometimes there are weird technical holds that only show up in certain sections. Hang in there! The system is completely broken but you will get through this. Your benefits should be backdated once resolved, so you won't lose any money - just dealing with the awful cash flow situation in the meantime. Keep fighting! πͺ

β’This is such helpful advice, thank you for sharing! I'm currently dealing with this exact situation - submitted my DE 2593 about 6 weeks ago and nothing since then. I had no idea that assemblymember offices had EDD liaisons, that's amazing! How did you go about contacting them? Did you call their main office or is there a specific process for EDD-related issues? Also really glad to hear about the back pay - that's been one of my biggest worries through all this. The detailed records tip is great too, I'm going to start documenting everything properly from now on. Thanks for giving me hope that there's actually a way out of this mess! π

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my DE 2593 in early September and it's been complete silence ever since. The financial stress is absolutely overwhelming - I'm having to borrow money just to cover basic expenses while waiting for this to get resolved. What's really frustrating is that there's zero transparency in the process. You'd think they could at least send automated updates letting us know our forms are in queue or being reviewed. Instead we're all left guessing and panicking about when (or if) payments will resume. I've been following all the advice in this thread - trying the 8am Tuesday calling strategy, documenting everything, checking my online account daily. Still no luck getting through to anyone, but I'm not giving up. The assemblymember office route sounds promising - I'm going to look into that next. Thanks for posting about this, OP. It's both comforting and depressing to know so many of us are stuck in the same nightmare. Here's hoping we all get resolution soon! The fact that benefits get backdated is the only thing keeping me sane right now. π€
