EDD Pregnancy Disability: How long after submitting DE 2593 until payment arrives?

I'm currently on pregnancy disability leave (34 weeks along now!) and received the Continuing Eligibility Questionnaire (DE 2593) in my SDI online account last Tuesday. I filled it out immediately and submitted it through the portal the same day. It's been almost a week, and I haven't received any payment or updates. My regular bi-weekly payments had been coming like clockwork until now. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for EDD to process these questionnaires and resume payments? I've got my hospital pre-registration appointment next week and some bills coming due, so I'm getting a bit anxious about the delay. My doctor's office confirmed they haven't received any additional paperwork requests from EDD, so I'm assuming everything is still just with the DE 2593 form I submitted. Any insights appreciated!

When I was on pregnancy disability last year, it took about 10 days after submitting the DE 2593 for my payment to resume. EDD has to manually review these forms to verify continued eligibility. If you submitted it online last Tuesday, I'd expect payment by this Friday. If you don't see anything by then, you might want to try calling them. Just be prepared to spend a LOT of time on hold - I wasted an entire morning trying to get through.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's reassuring to hear it might just take a few more days. I'll give it until Friday before I start panicking too much. Really hoping I don't have to call them... my bladder can't handle being on hold that long right now 😫

Not to freak you out but I submitted my continuing eligibility form THREE WEEKS ago and still haven't gotten paid!!! My doctor confirmed everything is correct on their end. I've called EDD like 30 times and can't get through to anyone. The system just hangs up. This is my 2nd pregnancy and it NEVER took this long with my first one in 2022. Something is seriously wrong with their system right now.

0 coins

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm afraid of! Three weeks is ridiculous. Have you tried messaging them through your SDI account? I sent a message yesterday but haven't heard back yet. I'm really sorry you're dealing with this. Pregnancy is stressful enough without payment delays.

0 coins

I sent like 5 messages through the portal and NOTHING. It's like shouting into a void lol. My husband is freaking out cause we budgeted for this income. I've even tried contacting my assembly member's office but they said there's backlog. Hope yours comes through faster than mine!!!

If you're having trouble reaching EDD, try using Claimyr.com - it literally saved me weeks of frustration when I was dealing with my SDI claim last month. Instead of spending hours redialing and getting hung up on, their system gets you through to an actual human at EDD. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd For your situation with the DE 2593, you definitely want to talk to someone directly because those forms can sometimes get stuck in their review process, especially with pregnancy claims where they have to verify your expected delivery date. It was such a relief when I finally got through and could get a straight answer.

Is this legit? I'm desperate at this point to talk to someone about my delayed payment. Does it actually work?

Yes, it's legit! I was skeptical too but it worked for me. Much better than spending all day trying to call them myself. They just help you get through the phone system to an actual EDD representative who can help with your claim.

I work in HR and deal with disability claims regularly. The DE 2593 is a standard eligibility verification form that EDD sends out periodically during pregnancy disability claims. Processing times vary based on current workload, but typically: - If submitted online: 5-10 business days - If mailed in: 10-15 business days Since you submitted online last Tuesday, you're still within the normal processing window. EDD is currently experiencing higher than normal volume of pregnancy claims (beginning of the year trend). I'd recommend waiting until at least 10 business days have passed before getting too concerned. If you reach day 10 with no payment, then calling would be appropriate. One tip: double-check your SDI Online account to make sure the form shows as "Received" and not "Pending" or "Action Required." Sometimes there are submission errors that aren't obvious.

0 coins

Thank you so much for the detailed info! I just checked my account again and it does show "Received" for the DE 2593, so that's reassuring. I'll try to be patient for the full 10 business days. It's just nerve-wracking when you're used to regular payments and suddenly they stop. Really appreciate your expertise!

wait im confused... is the DE 2593 different from the original disability forms?? i thought once ur approved for pregnancy disability u just get paid until ur delivery date?? do they really send more forms later that can stop ur payments??

Yes, the DE 2593 (Continuing Eligibility Questionnaire) is different from the initial claim forms. EDD periodically sends these to verify that your disability situation hasn't changed. For pregnancy claims, they typically send them once during the claim period to confirm your pregnancy is progressing as expected and your anticipated delivery date hasn't changed. It's a normal part of the process, but it can temporarily pause payments while they review it.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but the whole EDD system is COMPLETELY BROKEN right now. My sister-in-law has been waiting FIVE WEEKS after submitting her DE 2593 for pregnancy disability. Her baby actually came early, and she's now dealing with both a newborn AND trying to get her back payments! The representatives she finally reached (after hours on hold) just keep saying "it's in processing" with no timeline. They're clearly understaffed and overwhelmed. I recommend contacting your state representative's office if it goes past 2 weeks - they sometimes can expedite claims.

0 coins

That's absolutely terrible! Your poor sister-in-law dealing with that stress with a newborn. I really hope my case doesn't take that long. Is there a specific number or method for contacting our state representative that worked for her?

You can find your Assembly member here: https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/ - When you contact them, specifically ask for their "EDD liaison" or caseworker who handles EDD issues. They usually have dedicated staff for these problems since EDD issues are so common. Make sure you have your claim number, contact info, and a signed privacy release form ready (they'll provide this). Good luck!!

Have you checked if your doctor might need to submit additional certification? Sometimes EDD requires medical updates for pregnancy disability claims, especially if you're approaching your due date. My OB's office didn't tell me they got a request from EDD, and that was holding up my payments for weeks! Might be worth calling your doctor to double-check.

0 coins

I actually called my OB's office yesterday and confirmed they haven't received any requests from EDD. The office manager was super helpful and checked their fax and mail logs for me. But that's a great point - I know someone else who had that exact issue where their doctor's office just set aside the EDD form without telling them!

Update (Day 12): Just got my payment today after submitting the DE 2593! The payment is dated exactly 10 business days after I submitted the form. No communication from EDD explaining the delay, it just showed up. Hope this helps others estimate their timeline!

Omg congrats!! I'm on day 23 and still nothing 😭 But at least it's good to know they ARE eventually processing these things

Thank you so much for coming back to update! That's really helpful to know. I'm on day 7 now, so hopefully just a few more days to go. Fingers crossed! And @confusedmama2, I really hope yours comes through soon too!

I'm also dealing with a DE 2593 delay right now! Submitted mine 8 days ago and still waiting. This thread is super helpful - it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. The stress of not knowing when payments will resume is really getting to me, especially since we're already stretching our budget with all the baby prep expenses. Has anyone noticed if there's a pattern to which claims get processed faster? Like does it matter what time of day you submit or if you include a note explaining your situation? I'm trying to figure out if there's anything I could have done differently. Really hoping mine comes through in the next couple days like @Ahooker-Equator's did!

I'm in the exact same boat as you! Day 8 here too and the waiting is so stressful. From what I've read in this thread, it seems like the processing time is pretty random - some people get theirs in 10 days, others are waiting weeks. I don't think the time of day matters much since it's all going into their system for manual review anyway. The uncertainty is the worst part! At least we know from @Ahooker-Equator that they are processing them eventually. Hang in there - hopefully we'll both see our payments soon! 🤞

I'm on day 6 after submitting my DE 2593 and this thread has been incredibly helpful! It's such a relief to know this is a normal part of the process and that others are going through the same thing. The waiting is definitely nerve-wracking, especially when you're used to regular payments and suddenly they stop without much explanation from EDD. @Isabella Silva and @AaliyahAli - I'm right there with you on the stress! Between doctor appointments, baby prep costs, and trying to figure out maternity leave logistics, the last thing we need is payment uncertainty. But reading @Ahooker-Equator's update gives me hope that mine should come through in the next few days too. For anyone else dealing with this - it sounds like the key is just being patient and knowing that 10 business days seems to be the magic number for most people. I'm going to try to stay calm and give it the full timeline before I start panicking or calling. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it really helps to know we're not alone in this!

You're so right about the stress! I just joined this community because I'm dealing with the exact same situation. I submitted my DE 2593 form 4 days ago and seeing everyone's experiences here is making me feel so much better. It's crazy how EDD doesn't give you any heads up that payments might be delayed while they process these forms - I was totally caught off guard when my regular payment didn't come through. @Omar Fawaz thanks for summarizing the timeline expectations so clearly! The 10 business day rule seems to be the consensus here. I m'going to bookmark this thread and check back as we all hopefully get our payments sorted out. It s'such a relief to find other people going through the same thing - pregnancy is stressful enough without worrying about when your disability payments will resume!

I'm currently on day 5 after submitting my DE 2593 and this thread has been such a lifesaver! I was starting to panic when my regular payment didn't show up this week, but reading everyone's experiences here is really reassuring. It sounds like most people are getting their payments around the 10 business day mark, so I'm trying to stay patient. What's frustrating is that EDD doesn't send any kind of notification that your payments will be temporarily paused while they review the form. I called my doctor's office too just to make sure they hadn't received any additional requests, and thankfully they confirmed everything is clear on their end. @Yuki Tanaka - you're absolutely right that pregnancy is stressful enough without payment delays! I'm also going to bookmark this thread and hopefully we'll all have good news to share soon. Thanks to everyone for being so open about their timelines and experiences - it really helps to know we're not dealing with this alone.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I just submitted my DE 2593 yesterday (day 1) and was already starting to worry when I saw other posts about EDD delays. Reading everyone's experiences here is incredibly helpful - it's reassuring to know that this temporary payment pause is normal while they process the continuing eligibility form. @Sophia Bennett you re'absolutely right that EDD should give people a heads up about potential delays! I had no idea this was coming and it would have saved me a lot of anxiety. Fingers crossed we all get our payments back on track soon. This community is amazing for sharing real experiences and timelines!

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! I submitted my DE 2593 form 6 days ago and have been anxiously checking my account every day. This thread is incredibly helpful - thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and timelines. It's such a relief to see that the 10 business day processing window seems to be pretty consistent for most people. I was getting really worried when my regular bi-weekly payment didn't come through as expected. Like others have mentioned, I wish EDD would give us a heads up that payments might be temporarily paused while they review these forms. I also called my OB's office to double-check they hadn't received any additional paperwork requests, and they confirmed everything is clear on their end. Now I'm just trying to be patient and wait it out. @Ahooker-Equator thanks for coming back to update us - that gives me hope that mine should come through in the next few days too! This community is amazing for providing real-world timelines and support. Pregnancy is stressful enough without having to worry about when disability payments will resume!

I'm in the exact same boat! Just submitted my DE 2593 three days ago and have been refreshing my SDI account constantly. It's so nerve-wracking when you're expecting that regular payment and it just doesn't show up. This thread has been such a godsend - I was starting to think something was wrong with my claim, but now I see this is totally normal. The 10 business day timeline that everyone keeps mentioning is really helpful to know. @Daryl Bright you re'so right about EDD needing to give us better communication about these delays! I m'36 weeks now and the last thing I need is financial stress on top of everything else. Fingers crossed all of us waiting get our payments soon! 🤞

I just submitted my DE 2593 form yesterday and I'm already feeling anxious about when my payments will resume! This thread has been incredibly reassuring though - it's so helpful to see everyone's real experiences and timelines. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and this is my first time dealing with pregnancy disability, so I had no idea that EDD sends these continuing eligibility forms partway through your claim. Like everyone else has mentioned, I really wish EDD would give us a heads up that payments might be paused while they process these forms. I was totally caught off guard when I got the DE 2593 in my account and now I'm worried about the potential delay. Based on what I'm reading here, it sounds like the 10 business day timeline is pretty standard, so I'm going to try to be patient. Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences - especially @Ahooker-Equator for coming back with the update! It really helps to know we're not alone in dealing with this stress during what's already a challenging time. Fingers crossed all of us currently waiting get our payments back on track soon!

Welcome to the community! I just went through this exact same situation a few weeks ago and I completely understand the anxiety. The waiting period after submitting the DE 2593 is definitely stressful, especially when you're not expecting it. Like you, this was my first pregnancy disability experience and I had no clue these forms were coming. Based on what I've seen from others in this thread, the 10 business day processing time seems pretty reliable, so try not to worry too much if you can help it. The hardest part is just not knowing what to expect, but at least now you have a realistic timeline to work with. Hang in there - you've got this! 💪

I'm currently on day 3 after submitting my DE 2593 and finding this thread has been such a relief! I was starting to panic when my expected payment didn't come through yesterday. This is my second pregnancy but my first time dealing with EDD (moved to California since my last baby), so I had no idea about these continuing eligibility questionnaires. The 10 business day timeline that everyone keeps mentioning is really helpful to know - it gives me something concrete to expect rather than just wondering indefinitely. Like so many others have said, I really wish EDD would include some kind of notice that payments may be temporarily delayed while they process these forms. A simple "expect 7-10 business days for processing" message would save so much anxiety! Thanks to everyone for sharing their real experiences and timelines. It's incredibly reassuring to know this is a normal part of the process and not something wrong with my specific claim. Fingers crossed we all get our payments back soon! 🤞

Like you, I had no idea these forms were even a thing! It's so frustrating that EDD doesn't give any advance warning about potential payment delays. Reading everyone's experiences in this thread has been such a lifesaver though. The 10 business day timeline seems pretty consistent, so hopefully we'll both see our payments resume soon. I just submitted my DE 2593 form this morning and I'm already feeling nervous about the potential payment delay! This thread has been incredibly helpful though - thank you to everyone for sharing their real experiences and timelines. As a first-time mom at 35 weeks, I had no clue these continuing eligibility forms were part of the process. It's really frustrating that EDD doesn't give any advance notice about potential delays when they send these forms. A simple heads up like "processing may take 7-10 business days" would save so much stress! Based on everyone's experiences here, it sounds like the 10 business day timeline is pretty standard, so I'm going to try to stay patient and not panic if my next payment doesn't come through on schedule. @Ahooker-Equator thanks for coming back with your update - that really gives me hope! And to everyone else currently waiting (@Anderson Prospero @Isabella Silva @AaliyahAli @Omar Fawaz @Yuki Tanaka @Sophia Bennett @Marina Hendrix @Daryl Bright @QuantumQuasar @Aaron Boston @Yara Sabbagh), we're all in this together! I'm on day 2 after submitting my DE 2593 and this thread is exactly what I needed to find! I was getting really anxious when I realized my regular payment schedule might be disrupted, but reading everyone's experiences here is so reassuring. It's incredible how many of us are going through the exact same thing right now. Like so many others have mentioned, I really wish EDD would include some kind of processing timeline when they send these forms - even just a simple "allow 7-10 business days for review" would prevent so much unnecessary stress! I'm 33 weeks pregnant and the last thing I need is to be constantly refreshing my SDI account wondering if something went wrong with my claim. The consistent 10 business day timeline that keeps coming up gives me hope that I'll see my payment resume by next week. @Ahooker-Equator thank you so much for coming back to update with your positive outcome - that kind of follow-up is incredibly helpful for those of us still waiting! And to everyone else in the same boat, it's comforting to know we're not dealing with this alone. Pregnancy is overwhelming enough without adding payment uncertainty to the mix! 🤞

I'm currently on day 4 after submitting my DE 2593 form and this entire thread has been such a blessing to find! I was completely caught off guard when my regular bi-weekly payment didn't show up as expected. The stress of not knowing when payments will resume has been keeping me up at night, especially since we have our final prenatal appointments and hospital costs coming up. But reading everyone's real experiences and the consistent 10 business day timeline is giving me so much peace of mind.
