EDD Disability Claim Filed 2 Months Ago, Still No Payment - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my EDD disability claim. I filed on January 6th and it's been about 2 months now without any payment. Has anyone else experienced such a long delay? I'm starting to get worried and could really use some advice on what to do next. My weekly benefit amount is supposed to be $1000, but at this point, I'd just be happy to see any movement on my claim. Any tips on how to get in touch with EDD or speed up the process?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last year. It took me almost 3 months to get my first payment. The system is so backed up its ridiculous. Have you tried calling them? That's what finally worked for me.

I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating! How many times did you have to call before you got someone on the line?

Honestly, I lost count 😅 I think I tried at least 50 times over a couple of weeks. It was a nightmare. But don't give up! Keep calling and eventually you'll get through.

50 times?! That's insane. There's gotta be a better way. Has anyone tried going to an EDD office in person?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Is it legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

$20 to actually talk to a human? That's highway robbery! 🤬 The system is so broken.

I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. For me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

Here's what worked for me to speed up my EDD disability claim: 1. Document everything: Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates and times. 2. Contact your state representative: They can often help push your claim through faster. 3. Be persistent: Call EDD every day if you have to. The early morning (right when they open) or late afternoon tend to have shorter wait times. 4. Check your online account: Sometimes there are messages or requests for additional information that you might miss. 5. Make sure all your paperwork is in order: Double-check that you've submitted everything they need. 6. Consider reaching out on social media: Some people have had luck getting responses through Twitter or Facebook. Hang in there! It's a frustrating process, but keep at it and you'll get your benefits eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my state rep. Do you know how long it usually takes to hear back from them?

In my experience, it varied. Some people hear back within a few days, others a couple of weeks. But it's usually faster than waiting for EDD to sort it out on their own. Good luck!

am i the only 1 who thinks its crazy we have to jump through all these hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to? 🤔 the whole system needs an overhaul fr

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of mailing them? I heard it might be faster but idk if that's just an urban legend lol

Faxing in 2024? What is this, the stone age? 😂

lmao i know right? But desperate times call for desperate measures 🤷‍♂️

Just a heads up, there was a system update last month that's been causing delays for a lot of people. Might be why your claim is taking so long. Keep pestering them tho!

OP, have you checked if your employer submitted all the necessary paperwork? Sometimes that can hold things up.

I hadn't even thought of that! I'll give them a call tomorrow to make sure. Thanks for the tip!

unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just get jobs instead of relying on the government 🤷‍♀️

Bruh, this is for disability. People literally can't work. Read the room 🙄

Pro tip: If you do manage to get through on the phone, ask for a tier 2 specialist right away. They have more power to actually fix issues with your claim.
