EDD Claim Stuck: No Authorization or Payment After a Month - What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my EDD claim. It's been over a month since I filed and I still haven't received any authorization or payment. I've checked my online account but there's no updates or messages. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do next? I'm getting worried about bills piling up.

Ugh, I feel ya. I was in the same boat last year. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

•30 mins? Lucky you! I was on hold for 3 hours yesterday and still got disconnected ðŸ˜

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of when you filed, any correspondence, and attempts to contact EDD. 2. Check your spam folder. Sometimes important emails end up there. 3. Try contacting your local assembly member's office. They can often help push things along. 4. If you haven't already, file an appeal. Even if you don't know why there's a delay, this can sometimes trigger a review of your case. 5. Keep certifying for benefits every two weeks, even if you haven't been paid yet. 6. Join Facebook groups or forums dedicated to EDD issues. Sometimes you can get insider tips there. 7. As a last resort, consider contacting local media. Public pressure can work wonders. Hang in there! The system is overwhelmed, but persistence usually pays off.

have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds archaic, but it worked for me when nothing else did.

Guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•I get the skepticism, but after wasting hours trying to get through, it was worth it for me. Saved me a ton of time and stress.

•Can confirm, I used it last week and finally got my issue resolved. The peace of mind was worth way more than $20 to me.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's a joke that people have to jump through so many hoops just to get the benefits they're entitled to.

Have you checked if there's any identity verification issues? That held up my claim for weeks.

•I didn't even think of that! How would I know if there's an identity verification problem?

•Usually they send you a notice, but sometimes it gets lost in the mail. Try logging into UI Online and see if there's any action items or messages about additional documentation needed.

Hey OP, what industry did you work in? Some sectors are facing extra scrutiny right now.

•I was in hospitality. Didn't realize that could affect processing time.

•Yep, hospitality claims are getting a lot of attention due to all the covid-related layoffs. Might explain the delay.
