Need help updating direct deposit and reinstating UI benefits - any advice?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment claim. I need to update my direct deposit information and reinstate my benefits. Has anyone gone through this process recently? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I had to update my direct deposit info last month and it was such a hassle. Make sure you have all your banking details ready before you call. And be prepared to wait on hold for HOURS 🙄

•Hours? Try days! I swear they never pick up the phone 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through in only 45 minutes last week!

•Days?! Jeez, I guess I got lucky then. Thanks for the tip about calling early, I'll try that next time!

I actually found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

•Can you give more details about how it works? Like, do you have to give them your personal info?

•Nah, you just put in your phone number and they call you when they get an agent. No personal stuff required. It's pretty straightforward

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your info: claim number, SSN, new bank details, etc. 2. Try calling early in the morning, like right when they open. 3. If you can't get through, keep trying throughout the day. 4. Be super nice to the rep when you finally get one. They deal with angry people all day. 5. Ask them to confirm everything before you hang up. 6. Follow up online if possible to make sure the changes went through. Good luck, and don't give up! The system is a mess, but persistence pays off.

Oof, reinstating benefits can be a real pain. Make sure you have documentation ready if they ask why you need to reinstate. Good luck!

•Thanks for the heads up! Do you know what kind of documentation they usually ask for?

•It can vary, but usually stuff like proof of job search, any medical docs if that applies, or proof of income if you had partial employment. Better to have too much than not enough!

Anyone else feel like the whole unemployment system is designed to be as frustrating as possible? 🤔 It's like they WANT us to give up

Hey OP, just a heads up - when you do get through, make sure to ask about any potential overpayments or penalties for reinstating. I got blindsided by that and it was NOT fun.

•Oh no, I hadn't even thought about that. Thanks for the warning! Did you end up having to pay anything back?

•Yeah, unfortunately. Had to set up a payment plan. Definitely ask about it so you don't get surprised like I did!

I went through this exact same process about 3 months ago! For the direct deposit update, I was able to do it through the online portal - just log into your UI Online account and look for "Profile" or "Payment Information." Much faster than calling. As for reinstatement, definitely call early morning like others said, but also have your work search log ready just in case they ask. The whole process took about 2 weeks for me once I got everything submitted. Hang in there! 💪
