New York Unemployment: Filed weeks ago, still under review. How long does this take?

I filed for unemployment over a month ago and still haven't received anything. Every week I claim benefits, but it just shows up blank. I got a letter telling me how much I'll get, but when I try to file, it says my claim is under review. Anyone know how much longer this is gonna take? I'm getting worried.

I found a way to solve unemployment claim review delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0sB-9OkCTs

Welcome to the club, buddy. I filed back in May and I'm still waiting. NY unemployment is a total mess rn. Hang in there 😩

May?! Jeez, I thought my 3 weeks was bad. This system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

Ugh, same boat here. Filed in April and still crickets. This wait is killing me 😫

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

Idk man, paying to get through to unemployment? Seems sketchy af 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. You pay, they call and wait on hold, then when an agent picks up, they forward the call to your phone. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks to skip the wait? Sign me up! Thx for the tip 👍

Under review can take forever, ngl. Have you tried calling? Sometimes that can speed things up.

Bruh, I've been stuck in review for 2 months now. NY unemployment is a joke 🤡

2 months?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to your local rep? I've heard that can help sometimes.

Nah, haven't tried that yet. Might give it a shot tho. Thx for the suggestion!

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about NY unemployment claims under review: 1. The review process can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. It's frustrating, but not uncommon. 2. Keep claiming your weekly benefits even if it shows as blank. This creates a record of your continued eligibility. 3. Try to get through to a rep on the phone. It's tough, but can help. I used claimyr.com to bypass the hold times - it costs $20 but saved me hours of frustration. 4. Check your online account and mail for any requests for additional information. Responding promptly can speed things up. 5. If it's been more than 6 weeks, consider contacting your local state representative or the office of the NYS Department of Labor Commissioner. 6. Make sure your claim wasn't flagged for identity verification. If it was, you'll need to provide additional documentation. 7. Document everything - dates you filed, claimed, any communications you receive. Hang in there. The system is overwhelmed, but they will get to your claim eventually. Don't give up!

This is super helpful, thanks for taking the time to write it all out! 🙏

Great advice. Wish I'd known all this when I first filed. Gonna try that claimyr thing tomorrow.

have u tried faxing ur docs? sometimes that works faster than mail or online stuff

Oof, been there done that. The waiting game suuuucks. Hang tight and keep claiming those weeks!

Fr fr, the waiting is the worst part. Makes you feel so helpless 😞

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get through faster that way.

I swear, dealing with NY unemployment is like playing the lottery. You never know when (or if) you'll hit the jackpot 🎰😂

LOL too real. Except the odds are probably better with the actual lottery 💀

I feel your pain! I'm going through the exact same thing - filed about 6 weeks ago and still stuck in review limbo. It's so stressful not knowing when (or if) you'll actually get benefits. I've been keeping a spreadsheet tracking all my weekly certifications and any correspondence, just in case. Have you gotten any updates or additional requests for info since you filed? Sometimes they send stuff that's easy to miss and that can hold up the whole process even longer.

That spreadsheet idea is genius! I should definitely start tracking everything better. I haven't gotten any additional requests for info yet, which is both good and bad I guess? Like, at least I'm not missing anything, but it also means I have no idea what's holding things up. The uncertainty is the worst part - I just want to know SOMETHING, you know? Thanks for sharing your experience, it helps to know I'm not alone in this mess!

Same situation here - filed about 5 weeks ago and still nothing but "under review" every time I check. The worst part is not knowing if there's something I'm supposed to do or if it's just the system being slow. I've been calling every few days but can never get through. Starting to wonder if I filled something out wrong or if they need more documentation. Has anyone had luck with emailing them instead of calling? Getting really anxious about bills piling up while waiting for this to resolve.

I've been in the same boat for about 4 weeks now - the anxiety about bills is so real! I tried emailing through their online portal but haven't heard back yet (it's been like 2 weeks). From what I've read here, calling seems to be the only way to actually talk to someone, even though it's nearly impossible to get through. That claimyr service Katherine mentioned earlier sounds tempting at this point - $20 might be worth it if it actually works. Hang in there, we'll get through this eventually! 🤞

I'm in week 7 of waiting for my review to complete, so I totally feel your frustration! What's helped me stay (somewhat) sane is setting up a daily routine where I check my account first thing in the morning, then I don't look at it again for the rest of the day. The constant checking was driving me crazy and it never changes anyway. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you screenshot everything - your weekly certifications, any letters you've received, etc. I learned that the hard way when I couldn't find an old document I needed. Keep filing those weekly claims even though they show blank - I was told by someone who finally got through that those weeks will get backpaid once the review clears. Hoping we both hear something soon! 🤞
