EDD SDI claim filed a month ago, no response, online shows no claim - what to do?
I filed my unemployment claim over a month ago and still haven't heard anything back. I checked online and it says there's no current claim for me. I sent in all the paperwork they asked for, including the doctor's note. Anyone else dealing with this? It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on or when I'll get any money. Bills are piling up and I'm getting worried.

I found a way to solve unemployment claim delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SBPLbYrbsk

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling every day. Use the trick someone mentioned about calling right at 8 AM. 2. Send a message through your UI Online account. Sometimes they respond faster that way. 3. Double-check all your paperwork. Make sure you didn't miss anything they asked for. 4. If you have a local EDD office, try going in person. Some people have had luck that way. 5. Contact your state representative or senator. They can sometimes help push things along. 6. Keep detailed records of all your attempts to contact them. Dates, times, who you spoke to if you get through. 7. If you're really desperate, consider that paid service someone mentioned. It might be worth the $20 if it gets you answers. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed but keep pushing and you'll get through eventually. Good luck!

β’Wow, thanks for all the detailed advice! I'll definitely try some of these. Especially contacting my rep - didn't even think of that.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Filed in May and still nothing. This is ridiculous. How are we supposed to survive??

It's quite disheartening to hear about the issues you're experiencing with filing your unemployment claim. Many have shared similar frustrations, especially during these unprecedented times when the system is overwhelmed. One possible course of action is to make use of tools like Claimyr, which can help bypass long wait times by using their automated system to get a real person on the phone for you. While it costs $20, many have found it worthwhile for the peace of mind and resolution it can bring. However, it's important to approach such services cautiously, weighing the cost against your personal situation. Equally, you might want to explore contacting your state representative for assistance, as they can sometimes expedite the process. Additionally, checking your spam email folders, UI Online regularly, and maintaining thorough records of all interactions with the unemployment office can be crucial. Remember, you're not alone in this struggle, and many communities online are ready to share their experiences and support each other. Keep pushing and stay informed, and hopefully, you'll see some progress soon.

Has anyone tried the new EDD chatbot? I heard they implemented it to help with basic questions. Might be worth a shot if you can't get through on the phone.

β’I tried it. It's useless for anything beyond super basic info. Just another way for them to avoid talking to us directly π

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been waiting for almost 3 months now. The system is completely broken. π€¦ββοΈ

Pro tip: if you do manage to get through to someone, ask for a direct callback number before you hang up. Some reps will give you one, and it's gold for follow-ups.

β’This is a fantastic tip, thanks for sharing! Direct numbers are lifesavers.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds old school, but I've heard some people have had success that way. The fax number should be on their website.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

β’I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after weeks of trying to get through. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my claim sorted out.

β’How long did you have to wait with this service?

Hunter Brighton
β’It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent picked up. Way better than wasting a whole day trying to get through.

β’I used Claimyr too, and it was a lifesaver! But I do wish the service was more affordable. It feels like we have to pay for basic assistance.

PSA: If you're having trouble paying bills while waiting, many utilities have assistance programs. Also check with your bank about deferring loan payments. It's not a solution, but it might help buy some time.

Unpopular opinion: maybe try looking for work instead of waiting for a handout? There are plenty of jobs out there if you actually try.

This happened to me too. Turns out they needed additional info but never told me. Check your UI Online account for any pending tasks or messages. Sometimes they don't email you when they update it.

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be persistent and keep calling until you get through to a real person.

β’Yeah, I've been trying to call everyday for the past week. Always get the 'we're experiencing high call volume' message and then it hangs up on me. So frustrating!

β’Calling is useless. I spent 6 hours on hold last week only to get disconnected when I finally got through. The whole system is a joke.

β’Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59 AM. It's still a pain, but your chances are better.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure you're logging into UI Online regularly. They don't always send notifications when there's an update.

I'm dealing with something similar - filed my SDI claim about 3 weeks ago and it's been radio silence. The not knowing is the worst part, especially when you're counting on that income. One thing that helped me stay organized was creating a spreadsheet to track all my contact attempts (dates, times, methods) and any reference numbers they gave me. It makes you feel like you're doing something productive even when you're stuck waiting. Also, if you haven't already, try logging into your UI Online account at different times of day - sometimes the system updates overnight and you might catch new information before you get any email notification. Hang in there, this process is brutal but you're not alone in this frustration.

β’The spreadsheet idea is brilliant! I wish I had thought of that earlier. I've been trying to keep track of everything in my head and it's been a mess. Definitely going to start documenting all my attempts - having those reference numbers organized could be really helpful if I ever do get through to someone. Thanks for the practical advice and the encouragement. It really does help knowing others are going through the same thing.

I'm so sorry you're going through this - the waiting and uncertainty is absolutely crushing when you need that income. I filed my SDI claim about 6 weeks ago and just got my first payment last week, so there is hope! A few things that might help: 1) Try calling the SDI line (not the UI line) at 1-800-480-3287 - it's sometimes less busy than the main EDD number. 2) If you have your confirmation number from when you first filed, have that ready when you call. 3) Consider reaching out to your local assemblyperson's office - they have caseworkers who can sometimes help cut through the bureaucracy. The "no current claim" showing online happened to me too - turned out it was a system glitch and my claim was actually being processed. Keep detailed records of everything and don't give up. This system is broken but persistence does eventually pay off.
