NYS DOL Unemployment Claim Pending for Over a Month - What to Do?
Hey everyone, I filed for unemployment over a month ago and my claim is still pending. I'm getting worried because I haven't heard anything back. Does anyone know if there's something else I need to do? I just want to make sure I didn't miss any steps or if they need more info from me. This waiting game is driving me crazy!

Ugh, I feel ya. I was in the same boat last year. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes thats the only way to get answers.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

Check your online account if you haven't already. Sometimes they post updates there without sending an email.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•Can you explain more about how it works? I'm desperate but cautious.

•Sure! You go to their website, choose the department you need to call, pay, and then they start calling. When they get a real person, your phone rings and you're connected. It's that simple.

Have you checked if theres any new required documents? They keep changing the rules and sometimes you gotta upload extra stuff.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your online account for any messages or requests for additional info. 2. Make sure all your weekly certifications are up to date. 3. If you haven't already, upload your ID and any other documents they might need (recent paystubs, separation letter from employer, etc.) 4. Try calling first thing in the morning, right when they open. Be prepared to wait. 5. If you can't get through, consider using one of those paid services that wait on hold for you (I've heard mixed reviews, but some swear by them) 6. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 7. If all else fails, reach out to your local state representative. They often have connections and can help push things along. Remember, the system is overloaded, so patience is key. But don't be afraid to be persistent. Good luck!

Has anyone else noticed that the system seems to be extra slow lately? I wonder if they're doing updates or something.

•Yeah, it's been a nightmare. I heard they're switching to a new system soon, maybe that's why?

I'm in the exact same situation. Filed 6 weeks ago and still nothing. This is ridiculous. How are we supposed to pay bills?

•Ikr? It's like they forget we have rent and food to pay for. Hang in there!

Anyone know if theres a way to escalate our claims? This waiting game is getting old.

•I've heard that contacting your local state rep can help, but haven't tried it myself.

•There used to be an escalation form on the website, but I can't find it anymore. Maybe they took it down?
