NYDOL Unemployment Claim Filed in January - Still No Response. What to Do?
Hey everyone, I filed an unemployment claim back in January and I'm still waiting to hear back. It's been months now and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced long wait times like this? Any advice on what I should do next or how to check on the status of my claim?

Ugh, welcome to the club. I filed mine in December and still crickets. The system is so backed up its ridiculous. Have you tried calling them? That's what I did after waiting for like 2 months.

•Thanks for the reply. I've tried calling but can never get through. It's so frustrating. How long did it take you to finally reach someone?

•Honestly, it took me days of constant redialing. I think I got lucky on like the 50th try one morning. Keep at it, early mornings seem to work best.

•Pro tip: use an auto-dialer app. Saved me hours of manual redialing 👍

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there without sending a notification. Also, make sure you're still certifying weekly even if you haven't heard back yet!

The whole system is a JOKE. I've been waiting since November and still nothing. They need to hire more people or fix their damn computers or SOMETHING. We're all out here struggling while they sit on their a**es. 🤬

•I hear ya. But remember, the folks working there are probably overwhelmed too. Doesn't make it suck any less for us tho 😕

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research: 1. Keep certifying weekly, even if you haven't heard back. 2. Check your online account regularly for updates. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing. Include your full name, last 4 of SSN, and claim ID if you have it. 4. Contact your local state representative. They can sometimes expedite claims. 5. Make sure all your info is correct and you've submitted all required documents. 6. If you get through on the phone, ask for a tier 2 representative. 7. Be patient (I know it's hard) and keep detailed records of all your attempts to contact them. Hang in there, OP. The system is overwhelmed but they will get to your claim eventually.

I'm in the same boat, filed in February. This waiting game is killing me. Anyone know if we'll get backpay for all these weeks once it's approved?

•Yes, you should get backpay from the date you first filed, as long as you've been certifying each week. At least that's how it worked for me.

•Many creditors have hardship programs right now. Call them and explain your situation. Some might let you defer payments. Hang in there!

•Check if there's a rent relief program in your area. Some cities are offering assistance for folks waiting on unemployment.
