Filed for UI 2 weeks ago, no eligibility update. Normal wait time? What to expect?

Hey everyone, I filed for unemployment about two weeks ago and I'm still waiting to hear back about my eligibility. Has anyone else been in this situation recently? How long did it take for you to get a response? I'm getting a bit anxious and could use some advice on what to expect or if there's anything I should be doing while I wait.

I filed about a month ago and still haven't heard anything definitive. It's so frustrating! The waiting game is killing me. Have you tried calling them? I've been trying to get through but no luck so far.

Calling is a nightmare. I spent hours on hold and never got through. There has to be a better way!

Same here. I feel like I'm just wasting my time trying to call. Does anyone know if there's an email we can use instead?

I wish there was an email option! Would make things so much easier. Guess we're all in the same boat šŸš£ā€ā™€ļø

Two weeks isn't too bad actually. When I filed last year, it took almost a month before I heard anything. Just keep checking your online account for updates and make sure you certify for benefits every two weeks even if you haven't been approved yet.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely keep certifying. Did you end up having to do anything special to get approved?

Nope, just had to wait it out. But make sure all your info is correct on your application. Any small mistake can delay things.

Guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. How do you know it's legit?

I get the skepticism, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Just tried it and it actually worked! Got through to an agent in about 30 minutes. Thanks for the tip! šŸ™

Here's what you need to know about unemployment eligibility and the waiting period: • The standard processing time is 2-3 weeks, but can be longer during high-volume periods • Make sure you've provided all required documentation (ID, employment history, etc.) • Continue to certify for benefits every two weeks, even while waiting for approval • Check your online account regularly for updates or requests for additional information • If you haven't heard back after 3 weeks, try contacting them through their online portal • Be prepared to appeal if you're initially denied - many people get approved on appeal Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

This is super helpful, thank you! I'll definitely keep all of this in mind.

Great info! Wish I had known all this when I first applied. Would've saved me a lot of stress.

Preach! šŸ™Œ The system is a joke. They need to drag it into the 21st century already.

It's not just you. The system is totally overwhelmed and underfunded. We need serious reform.

Quick tip: make sure you're checking your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails from EDD end up there. I almost missed my eligibility notice because it went to spam!

Has anyone had luck with contacting their local representative? I've heard some people say that can help speed things up.

I tried that last month. My rep's office was helpful, but it still took a couple weeks to get a response. Worth a shot tho!

Ikr? It's like they forget we have rent and food to pay for. The system is so broken.

Have you looked into local food banks or rent assistance programs? Might help tide you over while you wait.

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. You never know when you might need that info later. I learned this the hard way šŸ˜…

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed about 10 days ago and still waiting. Reading through all these comments is actually making me feel a bit better - at least I know I'm not alone in this. The uncertainty is definitely stressful, especially when you're counting on that money to pay bills. I've been checking my account obsessively but trying to stay patient. Thanks for posting this question OP, it's really helpful to hear everyone's experiences!

Same boat here! Filed about a week ago and the waiting is killing me. It's oddly comforting to know we're all going through this together though. The tips in this thread have been super helpful - especially about continuing to certify and checking spam folders. Hang in there! šŸ¤ž

I'm right there with you! Filed about 2.5 weeks ago and finally got my eligibility determination yesterday - I was approved! The waiting was absolutely nerve-wracking, but it sounds like your timeline is pretty normal. One thing that really helped me was setting up text alerts through the EDD portal so I'd get notified immediately of any updates instead of constantly checking. Also make sure you're certifying every two weeks even without approval - that way when you do get approved, you won't have missed any benefit periods. The backpay comes through pretty quickly once you're in the system. Stay strong, you're almost there! šŸ’Ŗ
