Filed for EDD 2 weeks ago, no response yet. Normal wait time?

Hey everyone, I filed for unemployment benefits about two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back from EDD. Is this normal? I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced long wait times recently? Any advice on what I should do next?

Two weeks is actually not that long in EDD time. I filed 6 weeks ago and just got my first response yesterday. The system is super backed up right now. Hang in there!

6 weeks?! That's insane. How are people supposed to survive without income for that long? The system is broken 😡

Wow, 6 weeks is rough. Did you have to do anything special to finally get a response?

Nah, just waited it out. Called a few times but never got through. Eventually got an email saying my claim was processed.

I've been in the same boat, OP. Filed about 3 weeks ago and radio silence so far. From what I've heard, EDD is swamped with claims right now. Some people are saying it could take up to 8 weeks to hear back. Frustrating af but guess we gotta be patient 🙄

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep checking your online account daily for any updates or messages. 2. Make sure you've completed all the necessary forms and uploaded any required documents. 3. If you haven't received any communication after 3 weeks, start calling EDD. Be prepared to spend hours on hold. 4. Consider reaching out to your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help expedite claims. 5. Join Facebook groups or other online communities for unemployment support. Sometimes you can get insider tips there. 6. If you're really in a bind, look into local food banks or emergency assistance programs while you wait. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to be persistent!

This is solid advice right here 💯 Especially the part about contacting your state rep. They helped me big time when I was stuck in EDD limbo.

Guys, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

idk man, paying to get through to a government agency seems sketchy af

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Just sharing what helped me, take it or leave it 🤷‍♂️

Have you checked if theres any updates on ur online account? Sometimes they dont send emails but update the status there

Good point, I'll double-check that. Thanks!

ugh, EDD is such a mess rn. I filed 4 weeks ago and JUST got approved yesterday. The wait is brutal but hang in there!

Pro tip: call exactly at 8:01 AM when they open. You might have to try a few days in a row, but that's how I finally got through. Good luck!

This! Early morning is key. Also, Wednesdays seem to be less busy for some reason.

Two weeks is definitely on the shorter side for EDD response times unfortunately. I'm at 5 weeks now and still waiting for my determination letter. What I've learned is to keep certifying every two weeks even if you haven't heard back yet - that's super important! Also make sure you have all your documents uploaded in your online portal. The system is definitely overwhelmed right now but you're not alone in this wait. Stay strong! 💪
