EDD UI benefits certified but no payments received for weeks - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I certified for unemployment benefits from late March to mid-April, but I haven't received any payments yet. It's been weeks and I'm starting to get worried. I haven't even gotten any notices or letters from EDD about this period. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do? I really need to talk to someone at EDD about this but I can't seem to get through. Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you tried calling them? I know it's a pain, but sometimes you gotta be persistent. I had to call like 50 times before I got through, but when I did, they sorted it out pretty quick.

•I've been trying to call but no luck so far. It's so frustrating! How long did you have to wait on hold when you finally got through?

•Honestly, it was like 2 hours. Bring a book or something to do while you wait lol. But seriously, it's worth it if you can get through.

•It can be incredibly frustrating dealing with long hold times, but sometimes persistence is key. I’d recommend trying different times during the day even though it seems like a shot in the dark.

This happened to me too! Turns out there was a glitch in their system and my certification didn't go through properly even though I did everything right. You might want to check your online account to see if there are any pending issues or messages.

•Checking your account online frequently is a good practice. Sometimes messages or requests for additional documents are updated there, and you might miss it if you're waiting for a letter.

Guys, I know it's frustrating, but remember the EDD workers are probably overwhelmed too. Be kind when you do get through. A little patience goes a long way!

•True that. My sister works for EDD and she's been putting in crazy hours trying to help people. The system sucks for everyone.

•While it’s tough on both sides, maintaining civility can sometimes yield better results. Empathy can foster a cooperative spirit, even amidst frustration.

I heard they're super backed up because of all the fraud cases they're dealing with. Might be why it's taking so long. Hang in there!

•Fraud has indeed been a significant issue for EDD, leading to delays for legitimate claimants. It's a complex situation affecting many waiting for their benefits.

Has anyone tried contacting their state representative? I've heard some people have had luck getting things moving that way.

•I did this! It actually helped. Took about a week, but their office was able to get EDD to look at my claim and resolve the issue.

•How do you even find out who your state rep is? I'm so lost with all this political stuff.

•Your state representative’s website can usually be found through a simple search by your zip code or address. They often have staff who can assist constituents with bureaucratic issues.

This is why we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system. It's not fit for purpose anymore. We should all be writing to our representatives about this!

Plot twist: What if EDD is actually an elaborate social experiment to see how much stress humans can take before we all collectively lose it? 🤔 #EDDconspiracy

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Wait, what? You had to PAY to get through to EDD? That's messed up. Is this even legal?

Ryan Vasquez
•I know it sounds sketchy, but it's just a service that waits on hold for you. Totally legal. I was desperate and it actually worked for me.

•$20 to talk to EDD? In this economy? 🤡 But fr, if it works, it might be worth it...

•While Claimyr can be a helpful tool, it's worth weighing the cost, especially if you're on a tight budget. This might be a viable option when all other attempts to contact EDD have been exhausted.

Anyone else feel like they're playing EDD roulette every week? 🎰 Will I get paid? Will my claim be flagged? Stay tuned for next week's episode of "EDD: The Neverending Story" 🙃

PSA: Don't forget to check your spam folder for EDD emails! I missed an important notice because it got filtered out. Almost cost me my benefits. 😱

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with EDD for over a year now, and here's what I've learned: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every certification. You never know when you'll need it. 2. Be persistent. Call, email, send messages through your online account. Don't let up. 3. Check your online account regularly. Sometimes they update info there without notifying you. 4. If you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you have better luck then. 5. Consider reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 6. Join Facebook groups or other online communities for EDD claimants. Sometimes you can get good tips or heads up about system issues. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing. Good luck!

•Joining online communities can be immensely helpful. They offer solidarity and may provide solutions that aren’t readily apparent. But always be cautious and verify the information, as not all advice may be accurate.

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're still certifying every two weeks even if you're not getting paid. That way when they do fix the issue, you won't have to backdate anything. Learned that the hard way 😓

Hi OP, I understand how stressful this situation can be. If calling EDD hasn't been successful, consider exploring alternative methods like the Claimyr service mentioned, although it comes with a cost. Keeping track of every interaction, certification, and correspondence is wise, and don't forget to frequently check your online EDD account for any updates or pending actions. It's possible that a system glitch similar to those affecting others is causing the delay in your payments. If your financial situation becomes dire, seeking expedited payment due to hardship might be an option. Additionally, reaching out to your local assembly member or state representative can sometimes expedite the process, as they have channels to directly communicate with EDD. Most importantly, keep certifying for benefits every two weeks to avoid further complications. You're not alone in this—many are dealing with similar frustrations, and sharing strategies within communities can be a valuable asset.

Protip: If you're really desperate, you can request an expedited payment due to hardship. You gotta prove you're facing eviction, utilities shut-off, or other dire circumstances, but it might help if you're in a tough spot.

Have you checked if your identity verification went through? Sometimes that holds things up. Look for any pending tasks in your online account.
