EDD interview completed 12 days ago but no decision or notification - should I panic?
I had my eligibility phone interview with EDD almost two weeks ago (12 days to be exact) and I've heard NOTHING since then. The interview seemed to go well - lasted about 25 minutes. The interviewer said I should hear something within 10 days. I've been checking my UI Online account daily but there's no update at all - no messages, no change in claim status, nothing. I've also been checking my mail obsessively but zero communication from EDD. My weekly certifications still say 'pending' with no payments issued. I'm starting to get really anxious because my savings are running dangerously low. Is this normal or should I be worried? Has anyone else experienced a long wait after their interview? How long did it take for your claim to be processed after the phone interview? I'm wondering if I should try calling them but I've heard horror stories about getting through...

Don't panic yet! In my experience, EDD decisions can sometimes take longer than they initially tell you. While they say 10 days, the current processing times can stretch to 2-3 weeks, especially if they're experiencing high volumes or if your case requires additional review. Keep certifying for benefits as normal even while waiting for a decision - this is VERY important. If they approve your claim, you'll receive back payments for all properly certified weeks. If you don't hear anything by the end of week 3, then I'd recommend trying to contact them. When you do reach out, be sure to have your interview date and interviewer's name (if you recorded it) handy.

•Thank you for the reassurance! I'll definitely keep certifying. I did write down the interviewer's name actually - didn't think that would be important but glad I did. Do you think it's worth trying to call now or should I really wait the full 3 weeks?

•That gives me some hope! Did your UI Online account update first or did the money just show up on your card? I keep checking both constantly.

The standard EDD timeline they give you is rarely accurate these days. They're supposed to issue a determination within 10 days after your interview, but I'm seeing consistent delays across most claims. Here's what you need to know: 1. Your claim is likely still under review. The interviewer may need to verify information with your former employer or cross-reference records. 2. Keep certifying for benefits on your regular schedule. This is critical - if approved, you'll only get paid for weeks you've properly certified. 3. EDD is legally required to issue a written determination (approval or denial), so you should eventually receive something in the mail. 4. The UI Online system typically updates before you receive mail notifications. If you hit day 15 with no updates, I'd recommend trying to contact EDD. The phone lines are challenging, but persistence is key.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! That's exactly what I needed to know. I'm relieved to hear this delay isn't necessarily a bad sign. I'll keep certifying and wait a few more days before attempting to call.

EDD IS THE WORST!!! I waited THREE WEEKS after my interview and got NOTHING. Called them 47 times (not exaggerating) and couldn't get through. My landlord was threatening eviction and I was about to lose my mind. Finally tried using Claimyr (claimyr.com) after my cousin recommended it and got through to an agent in about 45 minutes. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep told me my claim had actually been approved a week earlier but there was a system glitch that prevented it from showing in my account! They fixed it while I was on the phone and my payments switched from pending to paid that night. Sometimes you HAVE to talk to a human there to get anything done.

•Yes it worked for me! I was super skeptical too but was desperate after wasting days trying to call myself. Got connected to a tier 2 specialist who actually knew what they were talking about and fixed my issue.

I think ur fine. My friend Jeff had his interview and then nothing for like 3 weeks and he was freaking out. But then all his weeks switched to paid at once. EDD is just slow AF with everything. Their whole system is from like 1995 or something lol

My interview was on March 7th and I didn't receive a determination until March 26th - so that was almost 3 weeks of waiting! The problem is that EDD is severely understaffed for the volume of claims they're processing. What happens after the interview is that your case gets assigned to a claims examiner who reviews everything and makes the final determination. This examiner may not be the same person who conducted your interview. Sometimes they need additional information that wasn't covered in the interview, which can further delay the process. In my case, they had to verify some income information with my previous employer, which took extra time. If you do need to call, I recommend trying right when they open at 8:00 AM. That's when I finally got through after trying for days at various times. Be prepared with your case details and specifically ask if there's any additional information they need from you to process your claim.

•That's really helpful context, thank you! I didn't realize they might be doing additional verification after the interview. I'll try calling early if I don't see movement in the next few days.

anyone know if its bad or good if it takes a long time? like does it mean theyre going to deny you if it takes longer?

•The length of time doesn't necessarily indicate approval or denial. EDD processes claims in batches, and various factors can affect timing - staffing levels, claim complexity, verification requirements, or system backlogs. I've seen quick approvals, quick denials, slow approvals, and slow denials. The timing itself isn't a reliable indicator of the eventual decision.

Check your spam folder too!!! I just remembered this happened to a coworker of mine - she was waiting forever and then found an email from EDD in her spam requesting additional information. By the time she found it she had to start all over again because she missed the deadline to respond. So frustrating!

•Omg I hadn't even thought of that! Just checked my spam folder but nothing from EDD there. Thanks for the suggestion though - definitely something I'll keep checking.

Just wanted to check in - any updates on your situation? Has your status changed or have you heard anything from EDD?

•Thanks for checking back! My account finally updated yesterday - 15 days after the interview. All my pending weeks switched to paid and I got a message in my UI Online inbox saying my claim was approved. Still haven't received anything in the mail, but at least I know things are moving now. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for the advice and support.
