EDD phone interview no-show - stuck on pending for 3+ weeks

I'm freaking out a little here. My claim has been pending since 5/14 (about 3 weeks now) and I finally got scheduled for a phone eligibility interview today between 1-2pm. I waited by my phone the entire hour, made sure it was charged, had good reception, and even turned off all other apps that might interfere with calls. Nobody ever called! Not even a missed call notification. My UI Online account still shows the interview was scheduled for today and my payments are still stuck on pending. Do EDD interviewers ever just skip scheduled calls? Should I call them? Wait for them to reschedule? I'm getting desperate since rent is due next week and I've been counting on this money.

Same thing happened to me last month! They never called and then a week later my payments suddenly switched from pending to paid without any interview. No explanation.

Really? Did you try to contact them at all or just wait it out? I'm stressing about these pending payments.

I definitely didn't miss any calls. I literally sat with my phone in my hand for the entire hour and didn't get a single call. No missed calls or voicemails either.

This happens more often than you'd think. EDD interviewers have huge caseloads and sometimes they get behind schedule or have technical issues. Here's what you should do: 1. Wait 48 hours - sometimes your claim will automatically go to paid status if the interviewer reviews your case and determines they don't actually need to speak with you. 2. If still pending after 48 hours, you need to contact EDD. Be prepared to spend hours trying to get through. 3. When you reach a representative, explain that you had a scheduled interview that never happened, and ask if they can either conduct the interview on the spot or reschedule you ASAP. Don't just continue waiting indefinitely - being proactive is important here.

Thank you for these clear steps! I'll wait until Friday morning, then start trying to call if nothing changes. Fingers crossed they just approve it without another interview.

I've gone through this exact situation. After my no-show interview, I spent 4 days trying to reach someone at EDD with no luck. The regular phone line is almost impossible to get through. I finally tried Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected to an EDD rep within 20 minutes. The representative was able to conduct my interview right then and released my pending payments the same day. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Totally worth it considering I was about to miss rent payment. The EDD rep told me they're severely understaffed right now and many interviews are getting rescheduled without proper notification.

is this a real service or a scam?? sounds 2 good 2 b true cuz EDD never answers

NOBODY at EDD cares if you make rent!!! They scheduled me for THREE interviews and never called for ANY of them!!! Then they DISQUALIFIED me saying I "failed to participate" in the interview process!! I had to file an appeal and wait ANOTHER 6 weeks to get a hearing where the judge immediately overturned it because EDD couldn't prove they ever called me. The whole system is DESIGNED to make you give up!!

That's terrifying! I really hope they don't disqualify me for their mistake. Did you try calling them between those missed interviews?

YES I called EVERY DAY sometimes 20+ times and either got the "we're too busy" message or waited on hold for 2+ hours only to get disconnected!!! The ONLY time I got through was when I called at exactly 8:00:00 AM and even then the rep just said "we'll note your account" which did NOTHING!!

So my situation was similar but a bit different. Had interview scheduled for 10-11am, no call came through. I panicked and kept calling EDD until about 2:30pm when I FINALLY got through to a person. Turns out the interviewer had tried to call me at 11:52am (completely outside my window) and my phone had blocked it as potential spam because it came from a weird number! The rep was able to reschedule me for the next day and told me exactly what number to expect the call from. Worth checking your call history and spam filters just to make sure. Also, if you have an iPhone, make sure the "Silence Unknown Callers" feature is turned OFF.

Wow, that's good to know. I've double-checked my call history and spam folder and there's definitely nothing there from today, but I'll make sure all my spam filtering is turned off just in case they try to call again.

my friend works for edd (not in interviews but different dept) and he said they're having major technical issues with their phone systems right now affecting outbound calls. something about their vendor switching systems. not saying thats definitely your problem but could explain why its happening to so many people lately

This is actually really helpful information. I've noticed a sudden increase in posts about missed interviews over the past two weeks. If there's a system-wide issue, that would explain it. Thanks for sharing this insider perspective.

Update for anyone finding this thread later: I checked with some of my contacts, and there is indeed a technical issue with EDD's phone system right now. They're aware of it and working on a fix, but in the meantime, many interviews are being rescheduled. For the original poster: Check your UI Online account daily. Many claims are being reviewed manually without interviews due to this technical issue. You might see your status change to paid without ever receiving a call. If it's still pending after 5 business days, definitely try to contact EDD directly.

Thank you so much for this update! I'll keep checking my UI Online account. It's still pending today but knowing about this technical issue gives me some hope that they might just review and approve it without another interview.

Just wanted to share my experience... after my missed interview I waited 3 days and still pending, then called and the rep told me my interview was actually rescheduled but they forgot to send me the notification!? My new interview was supposed to be the next day! So definitely call and check if yours was rescheduled too.

Ugh, that's frustrating! Thanks for the heads up - I'll definitely call tomorrow to check if they rescheduled without telling me.

UPDATE: My payments just switched to PAID this morning! Never got a call or interview, but all my pending weeks suddenly changed status. I'm so relieved! For anyone else experiencing this, I ended up waiting 3 business days after the missed interview before the system updated. Thanks everyone for your advice and support!

Great news! This confirms what I suspected - they're reviewing many claims administratively due to their phone system issues. Glad you got your payments without having to navigate their phone system.

That's such great news! I'm so happy your payments finally came through. This gives me hope for others who might be going through the same situation. It sounds like the technical issues with their phone system are forcing them to review cases manually, which might actually be faster than waiting for interviews. Thanks for posting the update - it's really helpful to see how these situations resolve!

This is such a relief to hear! I've been lurking in this community for a while and seeing all these missed interview posts had me worried about my own claim. It's really encouraging to know that EDD is actually working through these cases even when their phone system fails. Your experience shows that sometimes the system does work, even if it's not in the way we expect. Thanks for taking the time to update us - it really helps to see the positive outcomes too!

This is exactly what I needed to see today! I've been dealing with a similar situation - had my interview scheduled for last Friday and never got a call. I've been checking my UI Online account obsessively every few hours since then. Reading through all these comments, especially about the technical issues with EDD's phone system, makes so much sense. It's reassuring to know that they're reviewing cases manually when the interviews don't happen. I'm going to follow the advice here and wait a couple more days before trying to call, since it sounds like many claims are getting resolved automatically. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - this community is a lifesaver when dealing with EDD stress!

I'm in almost the exact same boat! My interview was supposed to be yesterday and I'm constantly refreshing my UI Online page hoping to see that magic status change. It's so stressful but reading through everyone's experiences here really helps. The fact that @Sophia Carson got her payments approved without the interview gives me hope that mine might resolve the same way. I m'going to try to be patient for a few more days before calling - sounds like the phone system issues are real and they re'actually processing these claims behind the scenes. Fingers crossed for both of us!

I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! Had my interview scheduled for Tuesday between 10-11am and sat there with my phone the entire time - nothing. It's now Thursday and still pending. Reading all these comments about EDD's phone system issues actually makes me feel a bit better knowing it's not just me. I've been beating myself up thinking I somehow missed the call or did something wrong. @Sophia Carson your update about getting paid without the interview gives me hope! I'm going to wait until early next week before trying to call them. The stress of these pending payments is unreal - I've got bills piling up and was counting on this money weeks ago. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it really helps to know we're not alone in this mess.

I totally understand that stress! The waiting and uncertainty about pending payments is absolutely nerve-wracking, especially when you have bills due. It's actually really comforting to see how many people are going through this same issue right now - definitely confirms that it's a system-wide problem and not something any of us did wrong. The technical issues @Kennedy Morrison mentioned about their phone vendor switching systems explains so much. I m'keeping my fingers crossed that yours gets resolved automatically like @Sophia Carson s did!'It seems like they re working'through these cases even when the interviews don t happen'as scheduled. Hang in there - based on what everyone s shared,'it sounds like there s real'hope these will get processed without us having to fight through their impossible phone system.

I'm dealing with this exact situation right now - missed interview on Monday and payments still pending. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been so helpful, especially knowing about the technical issues with EDD's phone system. It makes sense why so many people are having the same problem lately. @Sophia Carson your update about getting paid without the interview is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm going to follow the advice here and wait a few more days before trying to call. The stress of pending payments is real but at least now I know it's not just me. Thanks everyone for sharing - this community really helps when dealing with EDD chaos!
