Missed my EDD eligibility interview - notification said today 10am-12pm but no call came through

I'm totally freaked out right now! I received a letter in the mail about an EDD eligibility interview scheduled for TODAY between 10am-12pm. I even got a voicemail reminder about it yesterday. I made sure to have my phone fully charged, volume up, and I sat by it the entire time waiting but NOBODY CALLED ME. I checked my phone settings multiple times to make sure I wasn't somehow blocking the number. The letter did mention something about rescheduling through the EDD website if needed, but when I logged into my UI Online account, there's absolutely no record of this interview being scheduled! It's not listed anywhere in my account. I'm worried this will mess up my claim. Will they just disqualify me because they think I missed the interview? What am I supposed to do now? I know calling is nearly impossible (I've tried for days before and never got through). Is there any other way to get this rescheduled or fixed??

This happened to me last month!!! I was supposed to have an interview at 3-5pm and nobody ever called. I panicked for like 3 days and then someone from EDD finally called me almost a week later! They said they were running behind on interviews. Don't worry too much yet - they're probably just backlogged again.

Did you have to do anything to get them to call you back or did they just eventually reach out? I'm so nervous about my benefits getting cut off!

The EDD is seriously behind on eligibility interviews right now. What you should do is document everything. Take screenshots of your UI Online account showing no interview was scheduled in the system. Make notes about the letter you received with the date/time and exactly when you were available by your phone. Check your claim status daily to see if they've updated anything. They might make a determination without the interview (which can happen if they have enough info) or they might reschedule you. Either way, you need proof you were available for the original appointment in case you need to appeal a disqualification.

Thank you for this advice! I'll start documenting everything right away. Do you think I should upload something to my UI Online account mentioning I was available but didn't receive a call? Is there a way to send them a message through the system?

I know you said calling is impossible but it's actually NOT if you use Claimyr. I was in a similar situation (interview scheduled but no call) and was panicking. After trying to call for days with no luck, I found this service claimyr.com that got me through to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes. They have a video demo here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep I spoke with was able to see my interview was still in the system and helped me get it rescheduled. Seriously saved me weeks of anxiety.

I've used this service too and it worked but just FYI - the EDD rep told me interviews are being delayed 1-3 weeks from their original scheduled dates right now due to high volume. So even without calling, the OP might still get their interview, just later than the letter stated.

This EXACT same thing is happening to me right now but my interview was scheduled for yesterday!! I waited by my phone for hours and nothing. The most frustrating part is my UI Online doesn't show ANY interview scheduled either. Why do they send letters about interviews that don't even show up in our online accounts?? The system is so broken!

It's ridiculous! Did you end up doing anything about it yet? I'm debating whether to just wait and hope they call eventually or try something more proactive.

This is a good sign actually!! When they don't call for scheduled interviews, it often means they've already found enough info to determine your eligibility WITHOUT the interview. Keep checking your UI Online - if you see your payment status change from pending to paid within a few days, that means they approved you without needing the interview after all. If you don't see any change after a week, then you should try to contact them. But seriously, half the time these missed interviews actually mean good news.

Is this really true?? I hope so because I'm in the same boat as OP and freaking out!

Yes! Happened with both me and my roommate. They scheduled interviews, never called, and then about 4-5 days later our pending weeks switched to paid. The EDD rep later told me they only do the interviews if they need additional information to make a determination.

The EDD phone system is completely overwhelmed right now, so interviews are severely backlogged. Here's what you need to know: 1. The fact that the interview doesn't show in UI Online is actually normal - phone interviews often don't appear there even when scheduled 2. They're currently running 7-14 business days behind on eligibility interviews 3. You have three options: - Wait to see if they call (could be up to 2 weeks late) - Try to contact them via the UI Online "Contact Us" feature (select Category: Unemployment Claim, Sub-Category: Claim Status) - Call using a service or by repeatedly dialing yourself 4. Most importantly, keep certifying for benefits on your regular schedule even while waiting for the interview resolution They won't automatically disqualify you just because they missed the call on their end. They'll either reschedule or make a determination based on existing information.

This is super helpful, thank you! I'll keep certifying and I'll try the Contact Us feature right now. Is there anything specific I should mention in my message to them?

Yes, be very specific in your message. Include: 1) The exact date/time window of your scheduled interview, 2) Confirmation that you were available during that entire time with your phone on and ready, 3) Request for information about whether they'll reschedule or make a determination without the interview, and 4) Ask for a timeline of when you might expect resolution. Keep it factual and concise.
