Need to reschedule EDD phone interview - website won't let me! Best number to call?
I'm freaking out a little! I have a telephone eligibility interview scheduled with EDD tomorrow at 10:15am, but I just found out I have a mandatory meeting at work at the same time that I can't miss (my boss explicitly said attendance is non-negotiable). I tried rescheduling through UI Online, but the system keeps giving me an error saying 'This action cannot be completed at this time.' I've tried clearing cookies, using a different browser, even my phone - nothing works! Does anyone know a direct number I can call to reschedule this interview? I'm worried if I miss it, they'll disqualify my claim completely. Help!!

same thing happened to my cousin last month. you gotta call the main EDD number at 800-300-5616. but good luck getting through... took her like 20 attempts

•Oh no, 20 attempts?? My interview is TOMORROW morning. I don't have time for that many tries. Has anyone had success getting through quickly?

The website rescheduling feature is notoriously glitchy. You need to call 1-800-300-5616, but try calling right when they open at 8:00 AM. If you miss your interview without rescheduling, they'll make a determination based on available information, which often results in disqualification. Make sure to document your attempts to reschedule (screenshots of errors, etc.) in case you need to appeal.

•Thank you! I'll definitely try calling right at 8am. Should I keep trying the website too just in case? And should I answer the call tomorrow even if I'm in my meeting, or is that worse than missing it?

•DONT WASTE UR TIME with the website!!! I tried for 3 DAYS to reschedule my eligibility interview and the stupid website kept saying system error. The 800 number is ur only hope but BE WARNED they hang up on u if too many people r calling!!! So frustrating!!

you might try calling the appeals office too. they sometimes can help with interview stuff. my brother did that once. think the number is on your interview notice.

•The Appeals Office can't help with rescheduling eligibility interviews. They only handle actual appeal cases after a determination has been made. Calling them will just waste valuable time that could be spent trying to reach the main EDD line.

I was in a similar situation last month and discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that helps you get through to an EDD representative much faster. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. I was connected with an EDD agent in about 25 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. The agent was able to reschedule my eligibility interview on the spot. Definitely worth checking out given your time crunch.

•Thank you!! I just watched the video and I'm going to try this. I can't afford to miss this interview or get disqualified. Have you used it more than once? Does it really work consistently?

•Yes, I've used it twice now. The second time was to check on a payment delay. Both times I got through to an actual EDD agent within 30 minutes. Just make sure you're ready with your claim information when they connect you.

You're probably stressing over nothing honestly. I missed my phone interview last year because my phone died, and they just called me back the next day. All these people saying you'll get automatically disqualified are exaggerating.

•This is incorrect information. EDD's official policy is that if you miss your eligibility interview, they will make a determination based on available information. They do not automatically reschedule missed interviews. Some people do get lucky with an agent who reschedules, but this is not the standard procedure and shouldn't be relied upon.

I would just like to add that when I called to reschedule my interview, I made sure to document everything. Write down the date and time you call, the name of any representatives you speak with, and any confirmation numbers they provide. This documentation can be crucial if there's any dispute later about whether you attempted to reschedule. Also, some EDD offices have slightly different procedures, so your experience might vary depending on which office is handling your claim.

•That's really good advice, thank you. I've started a notebook with all my EDD interactions. I'll definitely get the name of whoever I speak with tomorrow.

ALSO don't forget to check if your interview notification letter has a SPECIFIC number to call for rescheduling!!! Sometimes there's a direct line listed on there that's different from the main EDD number. I almost missed mine because I was calling the wrong place!!

•I just double-checked my notice and you're right! There is a different number listed specifically for rescheduling. It's a local area code too, not the 800 number everyone mentions. THANK YOU for this tip!!!

Update us on what happens! If you do manage to reschedule, make sure you're fully prepared for the new interview. Have documentation ready regarding your job separation, any work search activities, and be clear about your availability for work. The eligibility interview is critical to your claim being approved.

•Thank you! I will definitely update. I have all my documents organized already - separation letter, final pay stub, work search log. Just need to actually get this interview rescheduled now.

UPDATE: Success! I used the number from my interview notice (thanks again for that tip!) and got through after only about 35 minutes on hold. The representative was actually very understanding and rescheduled my interview for next Monday. She said they're used to rescheduling requests and it won't affect my claim negatively. Such a relief! Thank you everyone for your help and advice!

Congratulations on getting it rescheduled! This is such a good reminder for everyone to always check their interview notice for specific contact numbers. I've been dealing with EDD for months and never thought to look for alternative numbers on the actual paperwork. Your experience will definitely help other people in similar situations. Good luck with your Monday interview!

•This is so helpful! I'm new to dealing with EDD and had no idea there were different numbers on the paperwork. I've been bookmarking this thread because there's so much good advice here. This entire thread is such a goldmine of information! I'm dealing with EDD for the first time and honestly feeling pretty overwhelmed by the whole process. Reading through everyone's experiences and tips here has been incredibly helpful. The fact that there are specific numbers on the interview notices that are different from the main line is something I never would have thought to look for. I'm going to save this thread and share it with my sister who's also navigating unemployment right now. It's amazing how much easier this process becomes when you have people sharing their real experiences and solutions. Thank you all for creating such a supportive community!

•I'm so glad this thread is helping you and your sister! When I first started dealing with EDD, I felt completely lost too. One thing I've learned is to always keep copies of everything - screenshot error messages, save confirmation numbers, write down who you spoke with and when. The EDD system can be really frustrating, but having that documentation has saved me multiple times when things went wrong. Also, don't be afraid to ask the representatives to repeat information or clarify things you don't understand. They deal with these questions all day and most are pretty patient about explaining the process. Good luck to both of you!

Wow, what a journey this thread has been! As someone who's been lurking on this community for a while but never posted, I had to jump in after reading through all of this. I'm currently waiting for my own EDD eligibility interview to be scheduled, and honestly, I was dreading the whole process. But seeing how everyone came together to help @Luca Russo, and all the practical tips that came out of it (especially about checking the interview notice for specific numbers!) has made me feel so much more prepared. It's incredible how much valuable information gets shared when people actually help each other instead of just complaining. I'm definitely going to keep this thread bookmarked for reference. Thanks to everyone who contributed - you've probably helped way more people than you realize!

•@Sofia Price I totally agree! This community is amazing. I just joined after going through my own EDD nightmare last month and wish I had found this place sooner. The tip about checking the interview notice for different numbers is pure gold - I spent hours calling the main line when there was probably a direct number right on my paperwork the whole time! It s'so reassuring to see that people actually do get their issues resolved with the right approach. Definitely keeping this thread saved too. Good luck with your upcoming interview!

This thread is exactly what I needed to read today! I'm scheduled for my own EDD phone interview next week and have been so anxious about the whole process. Seeing @Luca Russo successfully reschedule and all the amazing tips everyone shared (especially about checking the interview notice for specific numbers - who knew?!) has really eased my nerves. The advice about documenting everything and being prepared with all your paperwork is spot on too. It's so refreshing to find a community where people actually help each other navigate this confusing system instead of just venting. I'm bookmarking this thread for sure and will definitely pay it forward when I can help someone else. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
