EDD claim status check - no response for weeks. Any tips to get through?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to check the status of my benefit claim. I filed it a while ago and haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else been dealing with long wait times or silence from the unemployment office? Any tips on how to get through to someone or find out what's going on with my claim?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been waiting for WEEKS to hear back about my claim. It's like they've gone radio silent or something. Have you tried calling their hotline? I've heard some people have had luck getting through early in the morning.

Same here! I've been calling non-stop and always get the 'all lines are busy' message. It's driving me crazy 😤

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried calling a few times but no luck so far. Guess I'll keep trying šŸ˜“

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Is it legit?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. It's not ideal to pay, but it saved me so much time and stress.

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes they update the website before they actually contact you. Might be worth a shot if you haven't already.

I've been in the same boat, fam. What worked for me was emailing my local state representative. They have staff who can sometimes expedite claims or at least get you an update. Worth a try!

This is actually great advice! I did this last year and got a response within a week. Definitely worth a shot šŸ‘

Wow, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try and see if it helps.

Listen up, folks. I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what I've learned: • First, document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online status check. This will help if you need to escalate later. • Try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch a break in the queue. • Use their online portal religiously. Sometimes claims get updated there before anywhere else. • If you're really stuck, contact your local state rep or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can help. • Join Facebook groups or other online communities for your state's unemployment. Sometimes you can get insider tips or at least commiserate with others. • If all else fails, consider legal aid. Many offer free consultations for unemployment issues. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but you WILL get through eventually. Hang in there! šŸ’Ŗ

This is gold! Thanks for taking the time to write all this out. Saving this for future reference šŸ™

Great advice! I'd add: check if your state has an ombudsman office. They can sometimes help resolve issues with government agencies.

Preach! šŸ™Œ It's like they make it difficult on purpose or something.

For real tho. We pay into this system our whole working lives and then when we need it, it's a nightmare to access. Something's gotta change.

Has anyone had any luck with the callback feature on their website? I requested one last week but still haven't heard anything back.

I tried it twice. First time they never called. Second time they called while I was in the shower and didn't leave a voicemail or number to call back. So frustrating! 😤

It worked for me, but I had to wait almost two weeks. When they finally called, the rep was super helpful tho. Hang in there!
