EDD claim status MIA after 4 weeks - no updates, letters, or communication. Normal or should I panic?
I filed for unemployment benefits over 4 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back about the status of my claim. No letters, no notices, nothing. Is anyone else experiencing long wait times like this? It's getting really frustrating not knowing what's going on or when I might start receiving benefits. Any advice on how to check on the status or speed things up?

Ugh, welcome to EDD hell. I've been waiting 6 weeks now with radio silence. It's ridiculous how long this process takes. Have you tried calling them? Good luck getting through tho 🙄

•Calling is useless. I spent 3 days trying to get through and when I finally did, they just told me to keep waiting. What a joke 🤡

•I actually managed to get through after like 50 attempts. The rep was helpful and pushed my claim through. Keep trying!

•Thanks for the advice. I'll give calling a shot, but not feeling too optimistic based on what I'm hearing 😕

4 weeks is unfortunately pretty normal these days. The system is totally overwhelmed. I'd suggest checking your online account daily for any updates and keep an eye on your mail. Sometimes they send stuff without updating the online status.

Have you checked your spam folder? I almost missed an important notice because it got filtered out. Also, make sure your address is up to date in the system.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. They only charge if you actually get connected to an agent.

•Can confirm, I used it too. Worth every penny tbh. Got my issue resolved in one call after weeks of trying on my own.

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research on dealing with EDD delays: 1. Be patient: 4-6 weeks is unfortunately common right now. 2. Check your online account daily for updates. 3. Make sure all your info is current and correct. 4. If you haven't received any communication after 6 weeks, it's time to be proactive. 5. Try calling early in the morning or late afternoon - less busy times. 6. Use the online contact form to request a callback. 7. Reach out to your local state representative's office - they can sometimes expedite claims. 8. Join Facebook groups or forums for more tips and support. 9. If you're really desperate, consider using a paid service to get through on the phone. 10. Document everything - dates you filed, called, any confirmation numbers, etc. Hang in there, OP. The system sucks, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

•Fr fr. We pay into this system our whole working lives and then when we need it, it's like pulling teeth to get help.

Pro tip: if you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling right when they open or about an hour before they close. I've had better luck during those times.

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "down for maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🙄

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of mailing? I heard it might be faster but idk if that's just an urban legend at this point.

•I actually tried this! It didn't speed things up for me, but at least I had proof that they received my docs.
