4 weeks, no EDD payment or updates. How to check claim status?
Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with my unemployment claim. It's been 4 weeks since I filed and I haven't heard anything back. No updates, no payment, nothing. Has anyone else been waiting this long? I'm starting to worry about my bills piling up. Any advice on how to get an update on my claim status or when I might see a payment?

I found a way to solve unemployment claim delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z0cfPlpvWk

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat a few months ago. It's ridiculous how long they make us wait. Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare to get through, but it might be worth a shot.

•I've tried calling but keep getting stuck in this endless phone tree. It's so frustrating! How long did you end up waiting before you got your first payment?

•It took me about 6 weeks total. I know it sucks, but hang in there. Keep trying to call early in the morning, that's when I finally got through.

•6 weeks?! That's insane. The system is so broken 😤

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to talk to someone about our benefits? 🤔

•I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me weeks of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get answers and start my payments.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll talk to someone?

•Sure! You choose the department you need to reach, pay the fee, and they start calling right away. They use some tech to navigate the phone menu and wait on hold. When a real person picks up, your phone rings and you're connected. They don't guarantee it'll work every time, but if it doesn't, you can try again for free.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before sending any notifications.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's not equipped to handle high volume and leaves people hanging for weeks. We should be writing to our representatives about this!

•100% agree. The system has been outdated for years. It's a joke 🤡

•Writing to reps is useless. They don't care about us regular folks 🙄

Here's what worked for me: 1. Check your online account daily for updates 2. Try calling right when they open (usually 8 AM) 3. If you can't get through, keep trying every hour 4. Check your spam folder for emails 5. Make sure all your info is up to date in the system 6. If you still can't get through after a week, consider contacting your local state representative's office. They sometimes can help push things along. Hang in there, OP. I know it's tough, but persistence is key. Don't give up!

idk if this helps, but I was in the same situation last year. turns out they needed additional verification and sent a letter that got lost in the mail. might be worth double-checking they have all your docs.

Unpopular opinion: maybe try looking for work instead of waiting for a handout? 🤷♂️

•You do realize unemployment is something we pay into, right? It's not a 'handout'.

Pro tip: if you're really desperate, reach out to your local news station. Sometimes they do stories on people struggling with unemployment and it can light a fire under the agency's butt.

Same situation here! Going on 5 weeks now with zero communication from EDD. I've been calling every single day at 8 AM sharp and still can't get through. It's honestly making me lose sleep at night worrying about rent. The most frustrating part is not knowing if there's an issue with my claim or if they're just backed up. Has anyone had success with the online chat feature, or is that just as useless as the phone lines?

•I'm in week 3 myself and feeling the same anxiety about rent! The online chat is unfortunately just as bad - I've tried it multiple times and either get disconnected or told to call the phone number. It's like they designed the system to make us give up. Have you tried reaching out to your state assembly member's office? I heard they sometimes have dedicated staff who can help with EDD issues.

•@Yuki Kobayashi I m'so sorry you re'going through this too! The anxiety is real - I ve'been losing sleep over bills as well. I haven t'tried the assembly member route yet, but that s'actually a really good idea. I m'going to look up my local rep today. Thanks for the suggestion! It s'somehow comforting but (also sad to) know I m'not alone in this mess. Hang in there, we ll'get through this! 💪

I'm going through the exact same thing right now - 4 weeks and counting with absolutely nothing from EDD. It's beyond frustrating, especially when bills keep coming but the payments don't. I've been checking my online account obsessively and calling every morning, but it's like shouting into the void. The worst part is not knowing if there's actually a problem with my claim or if this is just their normal (terrible) processing time. Reading through these comments though, it seems like 4-6 weeks is unfortunately pretty typical. Hang in there Santiago - you're definitely not alone in this struggle! 😔
