EDD payment 2 weeks late, no updates. What to ask when I finally reach someone?
Hey everyone, I'm getting frustrated with my unemployment claim. It's been 2 weeks since my last payment and I haven't heard anything. I tried calling but couldn't get through. No updates, no letters, nothing. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on what I should do or ask when I finally get someone on the phone?

I found a way to solve unemployment payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i79UBJK1JXg

Ugh, I feel ya. The EDD system is a total mess rn. Have you checked your online account for any pending issues? Sometimes they don't send letters but update the portal.

β’Thanks for the tip! I checked my online account but everything looks normal. No pending issues or messages. It's so confusing π«

β’Same boat here. My account looks fine but no $ for 3 weeks. This is getting ridiculous!

β’Oof, that sucks. Sounds like you might need to talk to a rep directly. Good luck getting through tho π

2 weeks aint nothin, buddy. Try 2 months with radio silence. The system is beyond broken.

When you finally get through, ask them these questions: 1. Is there a hold on my account? 2. Are there any pending eligibility issues? 3. Do you need any additional information from me? 4. When can I expect my next payment? 5. Is there a reason for the delay that I should be aware of? Make sure to write down the name of the rep you talk to and get a reference number for the call. It helps if you need to follow up later.

β’This is super helpful, thank you! I'll definitely use these questions when I get through.

β’Great list! I'd add: Ask if theres any appeals or determinations pending. Those can hold up payments too.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

β’Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

β’Idk man, paying to talk to a government agency feels wrong. Shouldn't this be free?

β’I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. For me, it was totally worth it.

have u tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school but I got a response within 3 days after I faxed my issue.

β’Faxing? What year is it? π But seriously, I might try this if I can figure out how to send a fax in 2023.

β’There are online fax services that make it super easy. Just Google 'online fax' and you'll find a bunch of options.

Unpopular opinion: maybe try going to your local EDD office in person? I know it's a pain, but I got my issue resolved same day when I did this.

β’Wait, you can do that? I thought everything was online/phone only now.

β’Some offices are open for in-person help. Check the EDD website for locations near you. It's not advertised much but it's an option.

β’This! I did this last month and it was a game changer. Bring all your docs tho, they'll want to see everything.
