EDD: No response 3 weeks after applying. What should I do?

Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated. It's been 3 weeks since I applied for unemployment and I haven't heard anything back. No notices, no updates, nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm starting to worry that something went wrong with my application. Any advice on what I should do next?

I found a way to solve unemployment application delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrdVLiU6YT4

Ugh, welcome to the club. I waited 5 weeks before I got any kind of response. The system is so backed up right now, its ridiculous. Have you tried logging into your account online to check the status?

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I've been checking online every day, but it just says 'pending' with no other info. It's driving me crazy!

5 weeks?! That's insane. I'm only at 3 and I'm already losing my mind. How are we supposed to survive like this? 😤

I know, right? It's a total mess. I ended up having to borrow money from family just to get by. The whole system needs an overhaul.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? I'm desperate but $20 is a lot when you're unemployed.

Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. Why should we have to pay to talk to someone about our benefits?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying, I finally got through and got my issue resolved. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know? 🤷‍♂️

Pro tip: try calling right when they open in the morning. I got through after only a 30-minute wait last week. It's still annoying, but better than nothing.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along. Worth a shot if you're stuck in limbo.

That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

Just google your state and 'find my representative'. Most have online contact forms or office numbers. Good luck!

Listen up, folks. I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what you need to know: 1. Be patient. The system is overwhelmed, and 3-5 weeks is unfortunately normal right now. 2. Document everything. Keep a log of when you applied, any correspondence, and attempts to contact them. 3. Double-check your application. Make sure you didn't miss any fields or make any errors. 4. Use all available channels. Try phone, email, and online portals. 5. Consider reaching out to your state rep or senator's office. They can sometimes expedite things. 6. Join unemployment Facebook groups for your state. They often have insider tips and up-to-date info. 7. If you're really desperate, consider using a paid service to get through on the phone, but be cautious and do your research. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system sucks, but hang in there. 💪

This is gold 💯 Wish I had this info when I first applied. You should make this its own post!

Great advice, but it's BS that we even have to jump through all these hoops. The system is broken.

lol imagine thinking the government would be efficient. first time?

Not helpful, dude. We're all struggling here.

Has anyone else noticed that the website is always 'under maintenance' when you try to log in late at night? It's like they don't want us to actually use the system. 🙄

I'm in the same boat - applied 4 weeks ago and still nothing but "pending" status. It's incredibly stressful when you're counting on these benefits to pay rent and buy groceries. I've tried calling dozens of times but can never get through. The automated system just hangs up on you after an hour on hold. Really considering the state rep suggestion from @Zara Khan - seems like that might be our best shot at getting actual human attention on these cases.
