Unemployment claim stuck in pending status for 5 weeks - no answers from NYDOL. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm at my wits end here. My unemployment claim has been stuck in pending status for 5 weeks now and I can't get any answers. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get through to someone or speed up the process? I'm really starting to worry about bills piling up.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was stuck in pending for 7 weeks before mine finally went through. The system is so backed up right now, its ridiculous. Have you tried calling the unemployment office?

•Yeah, I've been trying to call every day but I can never get through. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

•Calling is useless, I've tried for weeks. Better off sending an email or using their online chat if they have one.

5 weeks? Amateur hour 🙄 Try 3 months of pending hell. The system is completely broken.

•Jeez, 3 months? That's insane! How did you manage?

•Barely. Had to borrow money from family and max out credit cards. It's a nightmare.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Got through to an agent in about 2 hours.

•20 bucks tho? Seems steep when calling should be free.

•I get that, but for me it was worth it to finally get some answers. Beats waiting for months 🤷♂️

Here's what worked for me after being stuck in pending for weeks: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 2. Reach out to your local state representative or senator. They often have contacts in the unemployment office. 3. Be persistent with calls, but also try early morning or late evening when call volume might be lower. 4. Check your claim online regularly and respond to any requests for additional info ASAP. 5. If you have access, try using their online chat feature instead of calling. 6. Consider filing an appeal if it's been an unreasonable amount of time. Hang in there, OP. The system is overwhelmed but keep pushing!

I'm in the same boat, 6 weeks pending here. This whole situation is a joke. How are we supposed to survive like this? 😡

Plot twist: the unemployment office is actually run by sloths. That's why everything takes foreverrrrr 🦥😂

•LOL if only that were the excuse. At least sloths are cute 😆

Quick question for those who've been through this: does the back pay eventually come through once it's approved? I'm worried about missing rent...

•Yes, you should get back pay for all eligible weeks once approved. Hang in there!

•Usually, but sometimes they miss weeks and you have to fight for it. Keep good records!

Anyone else notice that ever since they "upgraded" the unemployment system last month, everything's been even slower? Great job, govt 👏👏👏

Pro tip: if u cant get thru on the main line, try calling one of the employer-specific numbers and then ask to be transfered to claims. Worked for me!
