NYDOL claim stuck in pending status for 6+ months - need help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My unemployment claim has been stuck in pending status since last November. It's been over 6 months now and I'm starting to get really worried. Has anyone else experienced such a long wait time? I'm not sure if there's something wrong with my claim or if this is just how long it takes these days. Any advice on what I should do or who I should contact would be really appreciated. I've tried calling but can never get through to a real person. This waiting game is driving me crazy!

Ugh, I feel your pain OP. I was in the same boat last year. My claim was pending for almost 4 months before it finally got approved. Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblyperson? They sometimes can help speed things up.

•Thanks for the tip! I hadn't thought about contacting my assemblyperson. Did you just call their office or send an email?

•I sent an email first with all my details and then followed up with a call after a week. They were pretty helpful and got things moving within a couple weeks after that. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I did the same thing and it worked for me too. Definitely worth a shot, OP!

6 months?! That's insane. The system is so broken, I swear. I've been waiting for 3 months and thought that was bad. Sending positive vibes your way, hope it gets sorted soon.

Have you checked your online account for any messages or requests for additional information? Sometimes they need more docs but don't always notify you properly.

•Yeah, I've been checking religiously. No new messages or requests. It's just sitting there in limbo 😩

•Damn, that sucks. Sounds like you might need to escalate this somehow. Keep pushing!

I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to talk to unemployment? That's ridiculous.

•I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me weeks of frustration. I was desperate and it was worth every penny to finally get my issue resolved. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do 🤷♂️

•Can confirm, I used it too. Felt weird paying but got through in like 30 mins after trying for weeks on my own. 💯

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before and I'm gonna break it down for you: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them, including dates and times. 2. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 3. If you haven't already, file an official complaint through the NYDOL website. This can sometimes trigger a review of your case. 4. Reach out to your local state representative or senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with unemployment issues. 5. Consider contacting legal aid if you're really stuck. Some offer free consultations for unemployment cases. 6. Keep certifying every week, even if you're not getting paid. This will ensure you don't miss out on any weeks once it's approved. 7. Join Facebook groups or other online communities focused on NY unemployment. Sometimes you can get insider tips or hear about success stories. 8. If all else fails, consider showing up in person to a NYDOL office. It's a pain, but face-to-face interactions can sometimes yield results. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up, and don't let the system wear you down. You've got this! 💪

This might sound crazy, but have you tried tweeting at NYDOL? I've seen some people get responses that way. Worth a shot! 🤷♀️

Man, reading all these stories makes me so angry. We shouldn't have to jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to. The whole system needs an overhaul.

•Preach! 👏 It's like they make it difficult on purpose to discourage people.

•Totally agree. We need to organize and demand better treatment. This is unacceptable.

Hey OP, hang in there. I know it's tough but try to stay positive. My claim was pending for 8 months (yeah, even longer than yours) but it finally got resolved. Sending good vibes your way! ❤️
