EDD claim stuck in 'Processing' for 5+ weeks - no updates, what to do?
My unemployment claim has been stuck in 'Processing' status for over a month now. No updates, no letters, nothing. Anyone else dealing with this? It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on or when I'll get any money. Bills are piling up and I'm starting to panic. Any advice on how to get through to someone at the unemployment office?

Ugh, I feel you. I was in the same boat last year. It took me 7 weeks to get my first payment. The system is so broken 🤦♂️ Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare, but sometimes you can get lucky.

•I've tried calling but can never get through. It's either busy signals or being on hold for hours only to get disconnected. How did you manage to reach someone?

•Honestly, it was just pure luck. I called right when they opened one day and somehow got through. But I've heard some people have better luck later in the day. Keep trying, it sucks but persistence is key.

•Pro tip: try calling on Wednesdays. For some reason, it seems to be less busy then. At least that worked for me!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Is it legit?

•20 bucks? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free. The system is so messed up that we have to pay just to talk to someone 🙄

•I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate. The $20 was worth it to finally get some answers and get my claim moving.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update stuff there without sending a notice. Also, make sure you're certifying for benefits every two weeks even if you haven't been approved yet.

This happened to me too! Turns out there was an identity verification issue that I didn't know about. Once I cleared that up, things started moving. Maybe check if there's anything like that holding up your claim?

•How did you find out about the identity verification issue? Did they contact you or did you have to dig for that info?

•I actually found out when I finally got through to someone on the phone. They told me there was a flag on my account for ID verification. Had to upload some documents to prove my identity. After that, it took about a week for things to start moving again.

Unpopular opinion: maybe try contacting your local state representative? I know it sounds weird, but their office can sometimes help push things along with EDD. Worth a shot if you're really stuck.

•This actually works! I did this last year when my claim was stuck for 2 months. My rep's office contacted EDD and suddenly things started moving. Don't sleep on this advice!

Here's what I've learned from my own EDD hell: 1. Keep certifying every two weeks, even if you're not getting paid. 2. Check your online account daily for updates or new messages. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try the online contact form. 4. Make sure all your info is up to date and accurate. 5. If you get through to someone, ask them to put notes on your account about your call. 6. Be patient (I know it sucks) but also persistent. 7. Consider reaching out to your local state rep if nothing else works. Hang in there, OP. The system is a mess, but you'll get through it eventually. 💪

•🤣🤣🤣 For real tho. It's like they're running this whole operation on a Commodore 64 or something

Anybody else notice that EDD seems to move slower during certain times of the year? Like around holidays or the end of quarters? Maybe its just me but it feels like theres a pattern
