EDD claim stuck in 'pending processing' for 6 weeks - no updates or communication. What to do?

Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with my unemployment claim. It's been 6 weeks since I filed online and my status is still showing as "pending processing". I haven't received any letters in the mail or notices on my online profile. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm starting to worry that something went wrong with my application. Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was stuck in pending hell for almost 2 months. It's so frustrating when you're just left hanging without any updates. Have you tried calling the EDD? That's what finally worked for me, but it took like a million attempts to get through šŸ™„

I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through! Did you just keep redialing over and over?

Yeah, pretty much. I set aside like 3 hours one morning and just kept hitting redial. It was mind-numbing but I finally got through around 10:30am. Hang in there!

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I got through on my third try doing that!

6 weeks is way too long to be stuck in pending. Something's definitely off with your claim. You need to get ahold of a rep ASAP. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help push claims through faster.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds sketchy af. Why would you pay for something like that? šŸ¤”

I get the skepticism, but after spending weeks trying to get through myself, $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my claim sorted. Time is money, ya know?

How long did you have to wait once you used the service?

It took about an hour and a half, but I just went about my day and got a call when an agent was on the line. Way better than being glued to my phone all day!

Listen up, because I'm about to drop some knowledge on you all about dealing with EDD's bs: • First, document EVERYTHING. Every time you call, every letter you send, every online message. You might need this later. • If your claim is stuck in pending for more than 3 weeks, something's wrong. Don't wait around. • Calling is your best bet, but it's a nightmare. Try these tricks: - Call right at 8:01 am - Use the trick where you press 1 then 2 then 4 in the menu - If you get through but they can't help, ask to be transferred to a Tier 2 rep • If calling fails, go nuclear: 1. Contact your state assembly member and state senator 2. File a complaint with the EDD 3. Reach out to local media if you're really desperate • Last resort: consider legal aid. Some nonprofits offer free help with EDD issues. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

The whole system is a joke. They're probably sitting on a mountain of backlogged claims laughing at us peasants 🤔

Chill out with the conspiracy theories, dude. The EDD is understaffed and overwhelmed, not out to get you.

Hey OP, what kind of work were you doing before filing? Sometimes certain industries or job types can trigger additional review and slow things down.
