EDD claim from December still unpaid - what can I do?
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated. I filed an unemployment claim back in December and I still haven't been paid. It's been over a month now. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm starting to worry because bills are piling up and I don't know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Filed in November and still nothing. The system is so broken rn 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

•Totally legit. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration.

•20 bucks tho? That's steep when ur already broke from no unemployment 😬

•I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get answers. Cheaper than taking a day off work to call all day.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your UI Online account for any pending tasks or messages. 2. Make sure all your certifications are up to date. 3. If everything looks good on your end, you need to contact EDD directly. 4. Be persistent with calling - early morning or late afternoon tend to have shorter wait times. 5. If you can't get through by phone, try sending a message through your UI Online account. 6. As a last resort, contact your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes expedite claims. Remember, the system is overwhelmed right now, so patience is key. But don't give up! You're entitled to your benefits.

•This is great advice! I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online message. It helps if you need to escalate later.

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was an identity verification issue they never told me about. Definitely try to get someone on the phone if you can.

Not to be that guy, but have you double checked that you're eligible? Sometimes people file without realizing they don't qualify.

•Yeah, I'm definitely eligible. Lost my job due to COVID layoffs.

Anybody else notice how they always seem to 'lose' our documents? I've had to send the same forms like 3 times now 🙄

Hey OP, hang in there. I know it's tough but it will get sorted eventually. In the meantime, check out local food banks if you're struggling. No shame in getting help when you need it. ❤️
