Here's what you need to know about disability payments: 1. Processing time: It typically takes 2-4 weeks for initial processing, but can be longer depending on your case complexity. 2. Paperwork: Make sure ALL your forms are filled out correctly. Any mistakes can cause major delays. 3. Medical evidence: Ensure your doctor has submitted all necessary medical records. 4. Follow up: Don't be afraid to call and check on your claim status regularly. 5. Back pay: Remember, you'll usually get back pay from the date of your disability onset. 6. Online account: Create an online account to check your claim status 24/7. 7. Be patient: Unfortunately, delays are common. Budget accordingly if possible. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my claim about 8 weeks ago and still waiting. What I've learned from calling (took me literally 50+ attempts to get through) is that they're incredibly backlogged. The rep told me to expect 10-14 weeks total processing time, which is way longer than what they advertise online. One thing that helped me was setting up the online account - at least I can see that my claim is "in progress" rather than wondering if it disappeared into the void. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you submitted your doctor's "first report of injury" form. Apparently a lot of people miss that one and it causes huge delays. Hang in there - I know how stressful it is when bills are piling up! 💪
Glad you got it worked out! Make SURE you save that confirmation page or number. I'd even take a screenshot as proof you reported it correctly. EDD has been known to make "mistakes" on their end and then blame the claimant. Better safe than sorry!
Great that you got it sorted out! For future reference for anyone reading this thread, another tip is to also send yourself an email with the confirmation details and date you reported it. That way you have a timestamped record in case there are any discrepancies later. The EDD system can be glitchy sometimes, so having multiple forms of documentation never hurts. Hope your return to work goes smoothly!
Just went through this exact same situation last week! My payment showed as processed on the SDI website but didn't hit my account for 4 days. Turns out my bank had some internal processing delays they didn't tell me about. I'd suggest calling both SDI AND your bank to cover all bases. Also, if you have online banking, check if there's a separate "pending deposits" section - mine showed up there before it actually posted to my account balance. Hope this helps and you get it sorted soon! 🤞
This is really reassuring to hear! I was starting to worry something was seriously wrong, but knowing it can take a few days even when it shows as processed makes me feel better. I'll definitely check for that pending deposits section - I didn't even know that was a thing. Thanks for sharing your experience! 🙏
I went through something similar a few months ago and it was nerve-wracking! Here's what worked for me: first, screenshot your SDI account showing the payment as processed - this will be helpful if you need to escalate later. When you call SDI, ask them to confirm not just your bank details but also the exact date and method they sent the payment. Sometimes there are processing delays on weekends or holidays that they don't always mention upfront. Also, if your bank has a 24/7 customer service line, it might be worth calling them too to see if they can see any incoming ACH transfers that haven't posted yet. Hang in there - these things usually resolve within a few business days, but I know how stressful the waiting can be when you need that money! 💪
Quick question - did you report your sick leave payout to them? Sometimes that can trigger these notices if they think it's regular income.
I've been through this exact situation! The key is getting them to understand the difference between using accrued sick leave and actually returning to work. Here's what worked for me: 1. Get a letter from your employer explicitly stating you were still on disability leave and only used accrued sick time 2. Submit payroll records showing the sick leave deduction vs regular wages 3. File a formal reconsideration request (not just an appeal) - this gets reviewed by a different department The form you're looking for is probably the DE 4365DI or DE 8714A depending on your specific situation. Call and ask them to mail it if you can't find it online. Don't wait too long - you usually only have 30 days from the notice date to respond. Stay strong! 💪

Update on what worked for me: after creating my SDI Online account and still seeing nothing after a week, I called my doctor's office to check if they had received any requests from EDD. Turns out EDD HAD contacted them for additional information, but the doctor's office hadn't responded yet. Once they sent in the additional info, my claim started processing. Maybe check with your doctor to see if something similar happened?

•Thank you for the update! I called my doctor's office this morning after reading your comment yesterday, and guess what? They DID receive a request from EDD for additional medical documentation last week but hadn't processed it yet. They're sending it today. I never would have known without your suggestion. Thank you so much!

That's fantastic news! I'm so glad you found out what was holding up your claim. This is exactly why I always recommend checking with your doctor's office - they often receive requests from EDD that the claimant never knows about. Once they send in that additional documentation, your claim should start moving through the system much faster. Keep checking your SDI Online account over the next few days, and hopefully you'll see some progress soon. Thanks for updating us - this will definitely help other people who find themselves in the same situation!

•This is such a relief to hear! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now where I filed my disability claim 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything. I never thought to check with my doctor's office - I just assumed EDD would contact me directly if they needed more information. Your experience shows how important it is to be proactive and check all possible sources. I'm going to call my doctor first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you both for sharing this - it gives me hope that my claim isn't lost in the system!
