EDD disability claim form delay - due date approaching, need advice ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my disability claim and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I had surgery last month and filed the form that EDD gave to my doctor. They said they'd send a different form to my doctor, but nothing's shown up yet. The due date is coming up fast and I'm worried it won't get there in time. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to move things forward?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is such a mess rn. I had a similar issue last year and it took FOREVER to get sorted out. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. It's the only way I've ever gotten through.

•Calling is useless, I swear they have one person manning the phones for the entire state 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through in about an hour.

•20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep...

•I mean, compared to wasting hours trying to get through? Worth it imo

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates and times. 2. Reach out to your doctor's office. Make sure they're aware of the situation and ask if they've received anything from EDD. 3. Send a follow-up message through the EDD online system. Be polite but firm about the urgency of your situation. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try contacting your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 5. As a last resort, consider filing a complaint with the state ombudsman. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but you have rights as a claimant.

I'm in the same boat, OP. It's like they're purposely making it difficult for us to get the benefits we deserve. Hang in there!

Plot twist: what if we all showed up at the EDD office with lawn chairs and snacks? Make it a disability claim block party 🎉🤣

•Careful, they might see us having fun and deny our claims for being 'too able-bodied' 🙄

Hey, quick question - did you get any kind of confirmation when your doctor submitted the original form? Might be worth double-checking that it actually made it to EDD.

I went through something similar a few months ago! Here's what worked for me: I called my doctor's office and asked them to call EDD directly to confirm they were expecting the form. Turns out EDD had the wrong fax number on file. Once my doc's office got the correct info, the form came through within 2 days. Also, if you're running out of time, you can request an extension through your online EDD account - there's usually a "request extension" option under the claim details. Don't panic, there are ways to fix this! 🙏
