EDD claims they haven't received doctor's form - what to do?

Has anyone else had issues with their doctor's office mailing in claim forms to EDD? I sent mine in weeks ago, but EDD says they haven't received it yet. I'm getting worried about my benefits being delayed. Any advice on what to do next or how to follow up?

I found a way to solve EDD claim form submission delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f5FpNmNq4w

Ugh, I've been there. EDD is a nightmare to deal with. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes things get lost in the mail or stuck in processing.

0 coins

I've tried calling, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold last week.

Good idea! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

0 coins

I'm skeptical. $20 just to make a phone call? 🤔

0 coins

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me weeks of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

0 coins

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they give you a specific time to expect the call?

0 coins

Yeah, so you choose the EDD line you want to call, pay, and then they start calling. When an agent picks up, they forward the call to your phone. You don't have to do anything except wait for your phone to ring.

Here's what I would do: 1. Call your doctor's office and confirm they sent the form. Get the date they mailed it. 2. If it's been more than 2 weeks, ask them to send it again, preferably with tracking this time. 3. Try to submit the form online if possible. EDD has been pushing for more digital submissions lately. 4. Keep a paper trail of all your communications with both the doctor's office and EDD. 5. If you can get through to EDD, ask about alternative submission methods like fax or email. 6. Consider reaching out to your local state representative's office. They sometimes can help push things through. Remember, persistence is key with EDD. Don't give up!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely follow these steps. 💯

This is solid advice. I'd add: take screenshots of any online submissions or confirmations. EDD has 'lost' my online stuff before.

have u checked ur EDD online account? sometimes they update stuff there before they tell u

I swear EDD is stuck in the stone age. Why can't they modernize their systems? It's 2023 for crying out loud! 🤦‍♂️

Preach! 🙌 Their website looks like it was made in 1995 lol

You think California's bad? Try dealing with Florida's DEO. Now THAT'S a nightmare!

idk if this helps but I had a similar issue last year. Turns out my doctor's office had the wrong address for EDD. Double-check they're sending it to the right place!

0 coins

Oh man, I didn't even think of that. I'll definitely check. Thanks for the tip!

This whole system is rigged against us, I swear. They make it so hard on purpose so people just give up. Don't let them win, OP!

Take off the tinfoil hat, bro. It's not a conspiracy, just good old-fashioned bureaucratic incompetence. 🙄

0 coins

Wake up, sheeple! 🐑 The government doesn't want to pay out benefits. It's all part of the plan!

Hey OP, how long has it been since your doctor mailed the form? Sometimes it can take up to 3-4 weeks to process, especially if they're backlogged.

0 coins

It's been about 5 weeks now. That's why I'm starting to get really worried. 😰

0 coins

Oof, yeah that's definitely too long. Def time to follow up aggressively. Good luck!

I went through this exact same situation a few months ago! Here's what worked for me: I had my doctor's office fax the form directly to EDD (the fax number should be on the form itself). Then I also hand-delivered a copy to my local EDD office - yes, it's a pain, but at least you have proof they received it. I also sent a certified mail copy as backup. Triple submission might seem overkill, but my benefits got processed within a week after that. Don't let them give you the runaround - you have rights and they need to process your claim!

This is exactly the kind of proactive approach that works with EDD! The triple submission strategy is brilliant - I never would have thought of that. Did you have any issues with the local office accepting the hand delivery, or were they pretty cooperative about it?

@Oscar O'Neil This is such great advice! I'm definitely going to try the triple submission approach. Quick question - when you hand-delivered to the local EDD office, did you need to make an appointment first or could you just walk in? I want to make sure I do this right and don't waste a trip there.

0 coins

@Oscar O'Neil Wow, the triple submission approach is genius! I never thought about using all three methods at once. Quick question - when you faxed it, did you get some kind of confirmation receipt? I'm always paranoid about fax transmissions failing. And for the certified mail, did you address it to a specific department or just the general EDD address? Thanks for sharing this strategy - it gives me hope that there's actually a way to cut through their bureaucratic mess!

I went through something similar last month! What saved me was getting a tracking number from my doctor's office for the mailed form, then using that to prove to EDD that it was sent and delivered. If your doctor didn't use tracking, ask them to resend it with signature confirmation. Also, I found that tweeting at @CA_EDD with your claim number sometimes gets faster responses than calling - sounds weird but it actually worked for me! They seem to be more responsive on social media than their phone lines. Keep fighting for your benefits - you deserve them! 💪

@Javier Gomez That s'such a smart tip about tweeting at them! I never would have thought social media would be more effective than their actual customer service lines, but honestly that makes total sense - they probably don t'want public complaints sitting on their timeline. I m'definitely going to try that if the phone calls don t'work. Did you just tweet your issue publicly or did you DM them? And how long did it take for them to respond? Thanks for sharing this - it s'crazy how we have to get creative just to get basic government services! 🤦‍♀️

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now - it's been 4 weeks since my doctor sent in my disability form and EDD claims they never got it. What's really frustrating is that my doctor's office doesn't keep copies of what they mail out, so I have no proof it was sent. I'm going to try some of the suggestions here like the triple submission method and calling right when they open. Has anyone had success getting their doctor to resend the form electronically instead of through regular mail? I feel like that might be more reliable at this point.

0 coins

@Javier Mendoza I m'in almost the same boat! My doctor s'office also doesn t'keep copies which is so frustrating. From what I ve'learned here, definitely push for electronic submission if possible - some doctors can submit forms directly through EDD s'online portal for providers. If not, at minimum ask them to use certified mail with tracking when they resend it. That way you ll'have proof it was delivered and can use that tracking info when you call EDD. The fact that so many of us are dealing with this makes me think there s'a real problem with their mail processing system. Don t'give up though - it sounds like persistence really does pay off with EDD!

I had this exact problem two months ago and it was incredibly stressful! After reading through all these comments, I want to add one more thing that helped me - if you have any kind of documentation from your doctor about your condition (appointment summaries, treatment notes, etc.), scan those and keep them ready. When I finally got through to EDD, the representative was able to use those documents to expedite my case while we sorted out the missing form issue. Also, don't forget to document every single interaction you have - dates, times, names of who you spoke with, reference numbers. I kept a simple notebook and it saved me when different representatives gave me conflicting information. The system is broken but don't let that stop you from getting the benefits you're entitled to! 💪

0 coins

@Dmitry Kuznetsov This is such valuable advice about keeping documentation! I wish I had thought to keep copies of my medical records before this whole mess started. The notebook idea is brilliant too - I ve'already talked to like 3 different EDD reps and they all told me different things. It s'so frustrating how inconsistent their information is. Quick question - when you say the rep was able to use your medical documents to expedite your case, did they accept photos/scans over the phone or did you have to submit them through their portal? I m'trying to figure out the best way to have everything ready when I finally get through to someone. Thanks for sharing your experience - it gives me hope that there s'light at the end of this bureaucratic tunnel! 🙏
