EDD paperwork lost? Tips for following up on extension submission delays

I'm so frustrated with EDD right now. I submitted my paperwork for an extension through my doctor over a month ago, but EDD is telling me they haven't received it. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do when I call them? I'm worried about my benefits getting cut off.

have you tried faxing it? I know it sounds old school but sometimes that works better than online submission

I didn't even think about faxing! Do you know if they have a specific fax number for extensions?

Yeah, its on their website somewhere. I'll try to find it and post it here later. Just make sure to keep the fax confirmation page as proof!

EDD is such a joke. They probably lost your paperwork in their giant pile of bureaucratic bs. 🤡 Good luck getting any straight answers from them!

When dealing with EDD issues, it's important to be as proactive as possible. Documenting every interaction and submission is crucial for tracking your claim. The suggestion to call early with a prepared list of questions is excellent advice. Additionally, consider using multiple submission methods, like online submissions and faxing, to ensure your paperwork is received. If you're facing long wait times, services like Claimyr can help, though it's important to weigh the cost against your current financial situation. Lastly, reaching out to your local assembly member or even trying alternative communication channels like social media might yield faster results. Remember, persistence and patience are your allies in navigating the complexities of EDD. Keep detailed records at every step and don't hesitate to escalate your case if necessary. Always verify the legitimacy of any third-party service you choose to use and ensure it aligns with your needs and budget.

Here's a detailed guide on how to handle this situation: 1. Document everything: - Date your doctor submitted the paperwork - Any confirmation numbers or emails - Names of EDD reps you've spoken to 2. Prepare for the call: - Have all your claim info ready - Write down specific questions to ask - Be ready to take notes 3. During the call: - Ask them to check all possible systems/databases - Request a supervisor if the rep can't help - Get a reference number for the call - Ask about alternative submission methods 4. Follow-up: - Send a written request via certified mail - Check your online account daily for updates - Consider contacting your local assembly member for help Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! 💪

Great advice! I'd add: record the call if its legal in your state. It can be helpful if you need to prove what was said later.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried sending a message to EDD on Twitter? I've seen some people get responses that way. Worth a shot if nothing else is working!

Social media can be a surprisingly effective way to get a response from companies, including government agencies.

This happened to me too! It's so annoying. I ended up having to resubmit everything and it took forever. Make sure you keep calling them and don't let them forget about you. squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that 🙄

Persistence really is key with EDD. They do tend to prioritize cases that are consistently followed up on.

have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? sometimes they can help push things through faster

I didn't know that was an option. How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Just google "[your city] assembly member" and it should come up. They usually have a form on their website for constituent services. Worth a shot!

Ugh, classic EDD. Their system is a mess. I had a similar issue last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call early in the morning, like right when they open 2. Have all your info ready - submission date, doctor's name, etc. 3. Be polite but firm. Ask them to double-check their system 4. If they can't find it, ask for next steps to resubmit 5. Get a reference number for your call! Good luck, hope this helps!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time when they'll call you?

@profile 7 It's totally legit, I was skeptical at first too but it saved me hours of frustration. @profile 8 You choose a time window and they call you when they get an agent. Way better than being stuck on hold all day!

I've used Claimyr too, and it's been helpful. However, it's good to keep in mind that $20 can be expensive for frequent use, and it's worth exhausting other options first.

Have you checked your EDD online account? Sometimes the info is there even if the person on the phone can't see it. Worth a shot before you spend hours on hold.

I did check online, but it doesn't show anything about the extension. Just my regular claim info. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

The online system is useless half the time anyway. I swear its run by hamsters on wheels or something 🐹

It's frustrating when the online system is so outdated. There should be a more efficient way to track claims!
