EDD PFL payment delay: Submitted forms, no payment, can't reach anyone - What to do?
I submitted all my EDD forms but still haven't received any payment. I'm getting worried because I need to pay bills soon. Has anyone else had this problem? I've been trying to call them but can't get through. What should I do if I have to go to work before I hear back from them? Any advice would be appreciated!

Welcome to EDD hell, buddy. You're not alone in this boat. I've been waiting for weeks with no payment. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our money π

Here's what you need to do to get your EDD payment issue resolved: 1. Document everything: Keep a record of all your submissions, dates, and any communication you've had with EDD. 2. Triple-check your forms: Make sure there are no errors or missing information on your submissions. Even small mistakes can cause delays. 3. Contact your local assembly member or state senator: They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with EDD issues. This can speed up the process significantly. 4. Use multiple contact methods: Keep trying the phone, but also use email and social media to reach out. Sometimes different departments respond faster to different methods. 5. Be persistent but polite: It's frustrating, but remember the people you talk to aren't personally responsible for the delays. 6. Check for identity verification issues: Many payment delays are due to ID verification problems. Make sure you've completed any ID verification requests. 7. Join EDD-focused Facebook groups or subreddits: Other claimants often share helpful tips and updates. Remember, the system is overwhelmed, but keep at it. You'll get through eventually!

β’Wow, thanks for all the detailed info! I'll definitely try contacting my assembly member. Didn't even know that was an option.

β’This is great advice. I'd add: if you do get through on the phone, ask for a tier 2 specialist. They have more power to fix issues.

β’And also, make sure you're signed up for text or email alerts from EDD to get updates as soon as they happen.

Anyone else feel like they need a degree in bureaucracy just to navigate the EDD system? It's like they intentionally make it as confusing as possible π€

β’For real. I swear half the questions on their forms are designed to trick you.

β’It's a feature, not a bug. They're hoping people will give up and go away π

β’An online guide or a help article resource could be really useful to guide people through the process.

lmao welcome to the club π€‘ EDD is a joke. I've been waiting 3 months for my payment. Might as well start a GoFundMe at this point ππ

Pro tip: if you do manage to get through on the phone, ask for a callback number. That way if you get disconnected (which happens ALL THE TIME), you have a direct line back to someone who can help.

β’Also, write down the name of the agent you talked to for future reference.

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) often experiences delays due to the high volume of claims and limited staff. However, there are several ways to tackle the issue. First, ensure all your documents and claims are accurate and complete. Sometimes the slightest mistake can cause a delay. Utilizing other contact methods such as email and social media can also increase responsiveness. Some users have found success using tools like Claimyr, which offers a way to bypass long phone queues for a fee. While some have found this service to be worth the cost due to the time and frustration saved, others might prefer free alternatives like reaching out to local representatives to expedite the process. Also, consider visiting an EDD office in person if feasible, as face-to-face interactions can sometimes lead to faster resolutions. In the end, persistence is key. With a combination of various strategies, you're likely to see progress with your claim.

Hang in there, OP. The system is broken, but don't let it break you. We're all in this together. πͺβ€οΈ

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point π

Unpopular opinion: maybe try going to the EDD office in person? I know its a pain, but I finally got my issue resolved that way after months of nothing.

β’Are they even open for walk-ins? I thought everything was appointment only now.

β’Some offices are doing limited walk-ins. Call ahead to check. It's worth a shot if you're really stuck.

β’Make sure to get there early if they allow walk-ins. Lines can be long.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds old school, but I've heard some people have had success that way. Sometimes the online system glitches.

β’Faxing? What year is it, 1995? π But seriously, I might give it a shot. Do you know where to find the fax number?

β’LOL I know right? But desperate times... Here's the number: 1-855-327-7057. Good luck!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there are updates or messages there that explain why payments are delayed. Also, make sure all your certifications are up to date.

Katherine Shultz
β’Yeah, I've checked my account like a million times. No new messages or anything. All my certifications are done too. It's so frustrating!

β’Ugh, that sucks. Maybe try reaching out on social media? I've heard some people have had luck getting responses that way.

β’Another option is to use the EDD chat feature if it's available. Some have found success that way.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://claimyr.com

β’Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

β’How long did you have to wait? I'm desperate but don't wanna waste money if it takes forever.

β’It's totally legit! I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of frustration. The wait time varies, but for me it was about 45 minutes. Way better than trying to call myself all day.

β’I've heard mixed reviews about Claimyr. It may be worth a try if you're running out of options.

I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - submitted everything weeks ago and still radio silence from EDD. One thing that helped me was setting up automatic redial apps on my phone to keep trying their number throughout the day. Also, I started documenting every single interaction (or lack thereof) with timestamps in case I need to escalate later. The stress is real when bills are piling up, but hang in there! From what I'm reading here, persistence really does seem to pay off eventually.

β’The auto-redial app idea is brilliant! I never thought of that. Which app are you using? And documenting everything is such good advice - I wish I had started doing that from day one. It's so easy to forget the details when you're stressed out and making multiple attempts to contact them.

I'm in the exact same boat! Filed everything correctly weeks ago and it's like my application disappeared into a black hole. The worst part is not knowing if there's an issue or if it's just backed up. I've been calling every morning at 8am sharp when they open, but either get a busy signal or sit on hold for hours just to get disconnected. Has anyone had luck with specific times of day for calling? I'm wondering if there are less busy periods. Also keeping a detailed log of all my attempts now - wish I had started that earlier!

β’I've been dealing with this nightmare too! What's worked for me is calling right after lunch around 1:30pm - seems like there might be fewer people calling then. Also, I found out you can sometimes get through faster if you call the disability insurance number first and ask them to transfer you to PFL - weird workaround but it's worked twice for me. The documentation thing is so important - I started taking screenshots of everything and writing down confirmation numbers even when they don't seem relevant. It's exhausting but we just have to keep pushing through this broken system!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my PFL claim about 3 weeks ago and it's been complete silence since then. The anxiety is real when you're counting on that money for bills. I've been trying the phone number every day with no luck - either busy signals or I get disconnected after waiting for hours. Reading through all these comments is actually really helpful though - I had no idea about contacting assembly members or trying different times to call. I'm definitely going to try that 1:30pm calling time that @Fatima Al-Sayed mentioned, and I love the idea of asking disability to transfer you. Going to start documenting everything from now on too. It's frustrating that we have to become experts in navigating bureaucracy just to get the benefits we're entitled to, but at least we're all helping each other figure it out. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and tips! π
