EDD SDI claim extension submitted a month ago still not processed, can't certify or reach anyone - HELP!
I'm so frustrated with the EDD SDI system right now. My doctor submitted a payment for an extension of my SDI claim over a month ago, but it still hasn't been processed. I've tried calling EDD countless times, but I can never get through. To make matters worse, my EDD account is telling me to certify to continue payments, but there's no option to do so! Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually reach a human being at EDD?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a total nightmare rn. I've been trying to get through for weeks with no luck. It's like they don't want us to actually get our benefits 🙄

•For real tho! Its like they purposely make it impossible to talk to anyone. I swear the whole system is designed to make us give up 😤

•Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard thats the best time to get through

•Yeah, I've tried that. No luck. It's always 'due to high call volume' blah blah blah. I'm bout ready to camp outside their office at this point lol

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

•It's legit! You just enter your phone number on their website, pay the fee, and they start calling EDD for you. When they get a real person, your phone rings and you're connected. Saved me hours of frustration

•I get the skepticism, but honestly, it was worth every penny for me. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for way too long: 1. Keep calling. It sucks, but persistence is key. 2. Try different times of day. Early morning or late afternoon sometimes works better. 3. Use the online messaging system in your EDD account. It's slow, but they do respond eventually. 4. Contact your local state representative. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 5. Double-check all your paperwork. Make sure everything is filled out correctly and submitted. 6. If your doctor submitted something, follow up with their office to ensure it was sent and received. 7. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, messages, and attempts to contact EDD. Hang in there, OP. The system is broken, but don't give up!

•Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my state rep, I hadn't thought of that. 🙏

OMG I had the EXACT same problem last year! It took me forever to get it sorted. The key is to keep bugging them. Call, message, email, carrier pigeon - whatever it takes lol. Don't let them forget about you!

•Carrier pigeon 🤣 Don't give them ideas or they'll make that the only way to contact them!

This might sound crazy, but have you tried faxing them? I know, its like were back in the 90s, but I've heard some people have had success with that method. Apparently, faxes are harder for them to ignore 🤷♂️

•I... don't even know where to find a fax machine these days lol. But I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point!

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you're eligible for an extension? Sometimes the system glitches and tells you to certify when you're not actually eligible. Might be worth reviewing the SDI extension requirements just to be sure.

•That's a good point. I'm pretty sure I am eligible based on what my doctor said, but I'll definitely double-check. Thanks!

yall ever think about how much easier this would be if EDD just had a decent app? like come on, its 2023, get with the program EDD 🙄

•For real! An app would make everything so much simpler. But knowing EDD, they'd probably make it more complicated somehow 😅

I'm going through something similar right now! My extension has been pending for 3 weeks and I can't get anyone on the phone either. One thing that helped me was reaching out to my local assembly member's office - they have a constituent services team that can help with EDD issues. Also, try calling the main EDD number (1-800-480-3287) and when you get to the menu, press 1-2-1 really fast. Sometimes that gets you through to a person faster than going through all the prompts. Keep us posted on what works for you - we're all in this together! 💪
