MI UIA: Stuck in 'Pending Adjudication' Status - What to Do Next?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment account and could use some advice. My status is showing "pending adjudication" even though I've done everything I'm supposed to. I registered with Michigan Works, created a talent profile, and even contacted my previous employer who said they don't see anything they need to do on their end. I noticed this status yesterday and haven't received any notices or letters about it. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do next?

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/YmVM-26U2rM

I know Claimyr has been getting a lot of attention, but remember it's not officially affiliated with any government agency. While many have had success, it's always wise to proceed with caution. Make sure to thoroughly research and read reviews before deciding to use any third-party service.

Same boat here. It's frustrating how little information they give us. I'd suggest checking your spam folder for any emails from them, sometimes important stuff ends up there.

Hey, just a heads up - make sure you're still job searching and documenting it. Even with the adjudication pending, you don't want to give them any reason to deny your claim later.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your actions, including dates you registered with Michigan Works, created your talent profile, and contacted your employer. 2. Check your online account daily for new messages or tasks. Sometimes they add things without notifying you. 3. Call the unemployment office first thing in the morning. Keep calling until you get through. It's frustrating, but persistence is key. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via social media. Some people have had luck getting responses on Twitter or Facebook. 5. Contact your state representative. They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with unemployment issues. 6. While waiting, make sure you're still certifying for benefits each week. Don't let the adjudication stop you from doing this. 7. If you have any documents that prove your eligibility (like separation papers from your employer), gather them now. You might need them. Remember, "pending adjudication" usually means they're reviewing your claim. It could be something simple they need to verify. Don't panic, but stay proactive. Good luck!

For some added perspective, "pending adjudication" doesn't always mean something's wrong. It might just be that they need to verify details, especially in complex cases. Staying informed and proactive is your best bet.

I went through the exact same thing a few months ago! The "pending adjudication" status drove me crazy because there's zero transparency about what they're actually reviewing. Here's what ended up working for me: I called every single day at exactly 8:00 AM when they opened, and after about a week of busy signals, I finally got through. Turns out they just needed to verify my work history with a previous employer from 2 years ago - something super minor that they could have easily communicated. The whole thing was resolved in 5 minutes once I got someone on the phone. Don't give up on calling, and definitely keep certifying your weekly claims even while it's pending. The backpay will come through once it's resolved. Stay strong! 💪

•Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear that someone else went through the same thing and got it resolved. The lack of transparency is definitely the worst part - like you said, they could have just told you what they needed instead of leaving you in limbo. I'll definitely start calling at 8 AM sharp and keep at it. Really appreciate the encouragement! 🙏

I'm dealing with the same frustrating situation right now! Been stuck in "pending adjudication" for over a week with zero explanation. The lack of communication from UIA is honestly the worst part - they just leave you hanging without any indication of what they need or how long it might take. I've been trying to call but can barely get through the phone system. It's wild that we have to resort to paid services or call hundreds of times just to get basic information about our own claims. Really hoping they get their act together soon because this is affecting real people's lives. Thanks for posting about this - at least we know we're not alone in this mess! 🤦♀️

•I totally feel your frustration! Just went through this exact same thing last month and it's honestly maddening how they keep you in the dark. The system really needs an overhaul - it shouldn't be this hard to get basic updates on your own claim. Have you tried checking your account super early in the morning? Sometimes new messages or tasks show up overnight that they don't notify you about. Also, if you haven't already, make sure to document everything - dates, times you called, any reference numbers they give you. It really helped when I finally got through to someone. Hang in there, you'll get through this! 💪

I've been stuck in pending adjudication for about 3 weeks now and it's honestly soul-crushing. What really helped me was creating a detailed timeline of everything - when I filed, when I registered with Michigan Works, all my job search activities, etc. I also started calling at different times throughout the day, not just in the morning. Sometimes I had better luck around 2-3 PM when it seemed less busy. One thing that's kept me sane is joining local Facebook groups for Michigan unemployment - people share real-time tips about when phone lines are less busy or if there are any system updates. Also, don't forget to keep doing your job search requirements and certifying even while pending. I know it feels pointless, but you don't want to give them any reason to delay things further. This whole system is broken but we've got to play by their rules unfortunately. Sending you strength - you've got this! 💙

•This is such great advice! I love the idea of creating a detailed timeline - that sounds like it would really help when you finally get someone on the phone. The Facebook groups tip is brilliant too, I never thought about looking for local groups where people share real-time info. It's crazy that we have to crowdsource basic information about a government system, but hey, whatever works! Thanks for the encouragement and for sharing what's worked for you. It really helps to know other people are figuring out ways to navigate this mess 🙏

I'm going through something similar right now - been in pending adjudication for about 10 days and it's driving me nuts! One thing I discovered that might help is checking if there are any "pending issues" listed in your account under a different tab or section. Sometimes they bury important info in weird places on the website. Also, I've been keeping a spreadsheet of every time I call, what automated message I get, and any reference numbers - it's helped me feel like I'm at least doing something productive while waiting. The uncertainty is definitely the hardest part. Have you tried reaching out to your state representative's office? I heard they sometimes have staff who can help cut through the red tape. Hang in there - sounds like you've done everything right on your end!

•That's a really smart approach with the spreadsheet! I never thought about tracking all the call attempts and reference numbers - that's probably super helpful when you finally get through to someone. The tip about checking for "pending issues" in other tabs is gold too. I swear they hide important stuff in the most random places on that website. I haven't tried reaching out to my state rep yet, but that's definitely going on my list now. Thanks for all the practical suggestions and for the encouragement - it really helps to know there are people out there who get how frustrating this whole process is! 🙏

Hey, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this - the pending adjudication status is incredibly frustrating and you're definitely not alone! I went through something similar earlier this year and it turned out they were just verifying some employment dates that should have been straightforward. A few things that helped me: 1) Keep calling first thing in the morning (8 AM sharp) - I know it's brutal but persistence really does pay off, 2) Check your online account multiple times a day for any new messages or tasks they might add without notification, 3) Document absolutely everything with dates and times in case you need to reference it later, and 4) Make sure you keep certifying your weekly claims even while pending - the backpay will come through once it's resolved. I also found it helpful to reach out to Michigan Works directly since you mentioned you're already registered with them - sometimes they can provide additional insight or advocacy. The whole system is honestly a mess, but most of these adjudication holds do get resolved eventually. Stay strong and keep pushing! 💪

•This is exactly the kind of detailed, actionable advice that makes all the difference! The tip about checking your account multiple times a day is so important - I've heard from several people that new tasks or messages just appear randomly without any notification. It's ridiculous that we have to be detectives just to figure out what they need from us. I really appreciate you mentioning the Michigan Works angle too - since I'm already registered with them, it makes total sense to reach out and see if they can help advocate or at least provide some insight. Thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough response and for the encouragement. It really helps to know that most of these holds do get resolved eventually, even when it feels like you're stuck forever! 🙏

I completely understand your frustration with the pending adjudication status - it's one of the most stressful parts of the whole unemployment process because they give you zero information about what's actually happening. I went through this exact same thing about 6 months ago and it felt like being in limbo forever. Here's what I learned from my experience: The "pending adjudication" usually means they're reviewing something specific about your claim - could be work history, reason for separation, or even just verifying basic info with your employer. The maddening part is they don't tell you what they're looking for! My biggest advice: start calling at 8 AM SHARP when they open. Set multiple alarms, have your phone ready to redial immediately if you get a busy signal. It took me about 8 days of doing this before I got through, but once I did, the whole thing was resolved in under 10 minutes. Turns out they just needed to confirm my last day of work. Also, keep checking your online account obsessively - sometimes they add new messages or tasks without sending notifications. And definitely keep certifying your weekly claims even while it's pending. The backpay will come through once everything is sorted. Don't lose hope - these adjudication holds are incredibly common and most do get resolved. The system is broken but you WILL get through this! 💪

•This is such a comprehensive and reassuring response! The detail about it potentially being something as simple as confirming your last day of work really puts things in perspective - it's wild that something so minor can cause weeks of stress and uncertainty. Your strategy of calling at 8 AM sharp with multiple alarms set is exactly the kind of tactical approach this broken system unfortunately requires. I'm definitely going to implement the "obsessive account checking" method too, since so many people have mentioned that tasks and messages just appear randomly. It's honestly ridiculous that we have to become our own case managers just to navigate a basic government service, but I really appreciate you sharing what worked for you. The reminder about continuing to certify is super important too - easy to forget when you're in panic mode. Thanks for the hope and encouragement, it really means a lot! 🙏

I'm in the exact same situation right now - stuck in "pending adjudication" for almost 2 weeks with absolutely no explanation! It's so frustrating how they can just put your life on hold without even telling you what they need. I've been reading through all these comments and it's both reassuring and infuriating to see how common this is. The fact that we have to resort to paid calling services or spend hours every day trying to get through to a human being is absolutely insane. I'm definitely going to try the 8 AM sharp calling strategy that everyone's mentioning - seems like that's the golden hour. Also going to start checking my account multiple times a day for random messages they might add without notification. This whole system desperately needs an overhaul, but until then I guess we just have to play their broken game. Thanks for posting about this OP - it really helps to know we're not going through this nightmare alone! 🤦♀️💪

•I completely feel your frustration! Two weeks is brutal, especially when you have bills to pay and they won't even tell you what's holding things up. The 8 AM calling strategy really does seem to be the consensus here - I'm going to start doing that tomorrow morning too. It's honestly mind-blowing that in 2024 we have to strategize like we're trying to get concert tickets just to talk to someone about our own benefits. The random message checking thing is so important too - I can't believe they just drop new requirements without notifying people! We really shouldn't have to become amateur investigators just to navigate a basic government service. Hang in there - from everything I'm reading here, most people do eventually get through this mess. We've got this! 💪

I totally feel your pain - I'm currently stuck in pending adjudication too and it's been 12 days with zero communication! What's really helped me is setting up a daily routine: I call at exactly 8:00 AM when they open (literally have my finger ready to hit redial), then check my online account every few hours for any sneaky updates they might add without notification. I also started keeping a detailed log of every interaction, reference number, and date - it makes me feel less helpless and more prepared for when I finally get through to someone. The hardest part is the complete lack of transparency, but from what I'm seeing in this thread, most people do eventually get resolution once they make contact. We're all in this together! Keep pushing and don't give up on those morning calls! 🤞

•The daily routine approach is brilliant! Having that structure and sense of control makes such a difference when dealing with this chaos. I love that you're logging everything too - it definitely helps you feel more prepared and less like you're just sitting around helplessly waiting. The 8 AM sharp strategy seems to be the real key from what everyone's saying. It's crazy that we have to be so tactical about something that should be straightforward, but I guess that's the reality of this broken system. Thanks for the solidarity and encouragement - knowing there are others going through the exact same thing and staying positive really helps! 💪

I'm so sorry you're going through this - the "pending adjudication" limbo is absolutely brutal and you're definitely not alone! I just got through a similar situation last month after being stuck for almost 3 weeks. Here's what finally worked for me: I started calling at exactly 7:58 AM (a couple minutes before they officially open) and would redial constantly until I got through. It took about 6 days of this routine, but when I finally reached someone, they told me they just needed to verify my reason for separation with my previous employer - something that took literally 3 minutes to resolve once I had a human on the line. The whole experience made me realize how broken the communication is in this system. Keep certifying your weekly claims no matter what, document everything with dates and times, and don't lose hope. Most of these adjudication holds are for minor verification issues that get cleared up quickly once you make contact. You've got this! 💪

Mei Lin
•Thank you so much for sharing your experience! The 7:58 AM strategy is genius - getting in those couple minutes early could make all the difference. It's both frustrating and reassuring to hear that it was just a 3-minute verification issue that caused 3 weeks of stress. That really highlights how broken the communication system is - they could have just sent an email or message saying "we need to verify your separation reason" instead of leaving you in the dark with a vague "pending adjudication" status. I'm definitely going to start implementing your calling strategy tomorrow morning. The reminder about continuing to certify is so important too - it's easy to forget when you're stressed about the hold. Thanks for the encouragement and hope! 🙏
