EDD identified issue with my claim after 2 weeks - need help verifying info
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment benefits. I applied about two weeks ago, and now the system is saying they've identified an issue and need to verify some information. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm not sure if it's about my identity or employment history. Any advice on what to do next would be really appreciated!

Ugh, welcome to the club 🙄 I've been dealing with this for over a month now. It's probably about your employment history. They always seem to have 'issues' with that. Have you tried calling them? Good luck getting through tho...

•Calling is a nightmare! I spent 3 days trying to get through. Finally got someone on the line and they put me on hold for an hour, then the call dropped 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins of waiting that way.

•Thanks for the tips guys. Yeah, calling is the worst. I'm gonna try again tomorrow morning and hope for the best 🤞

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20? That's steep. Is it really worth it?

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. And yeah, $20 isn't cheap, but considering how much time I wasted trying to call myself, it was worth every penny.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Log into your account and check for any new messages or requests for information. 2. If there's nothing there, you'll need to call them. Be prepared to wait. 3. While waiting, gather all your employment documents from the last 18 months. 4. When you get through, ask specifically what information they need to verify. 5. If it's about wages, you might need to provide pay stubs or W-2 forms. 6. If it's about your employment history, have dates and contact info for all your employers ready. 7. Be patient and polite with the rep - they're dealing with a lot right now. 8. Make sure to get a confirmation number or email for any documents you submit. 9. Follow up in a week if you haven't heard anything. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is super helpful. I'll definitely follow these steps. Quick question - do you know if they accept digital copies of documents, or do they need originals?

•They usually accept digital copies, but make sure they're clear and legible. If you're uploading through their portal, PDFs are best. If emailing, they might ask for specific file types. Always keep your originals just in case!

Has anyone heard about the new bill they're trying to pass to streamline the unemployment process? Supposedly it'll make verifying info easier, but idk if it'll actually help or just create more confusion 🤔

•I read about that! It sounds promising, but I'll believe it when I see it. Government efficiency is an oxymoron lol

•Yeah, I heard about it too. Apparently, it's supposed to integrate better with employer databases or something? But knowing how these things go, it'll probably take years to implement 🙄

PSA: If you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try contacting your local state representative's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help escalate your case. It worked for me!

•This is great advice! I did this and got my issue resolved in a week. Definitely worth a shot if you're stuck.

Anyone else notice that the website is always 'under maintenance' when you actually need to use it? 🙃 It's like they're trolling us at this point.

Hey OP, what kind of work were you doing before? I've heard that gig workers and self-employed folks are having extra trouble getting verified. If that's your situation, you might need to provide additional documentation.

•I was working full-time at a restaurant that closed down due to COVID. But thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure to have all my tax docs ready just in case!

Pro tip: Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact EDD. Note down dates, times, and names of reps you speak to. It'll help if you need to escalate your case later.

•This is solid advice! I wish I had started doing this from day one. Also, if you have to submit documents multiple times (which seems to happen a lot), keep screenshots of your submissions with timestamps. Has saved me from having to re-explain my situation several times.
