EDD identity verification failed - what now?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my identity verification for my unemployment claim. The system is saying it can't verify my identity and I'm not sure what to do next. Has anyone else dealt with this? What steps did you take to resolve it? I'm worried about my claim being delayed or denied because of this. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve identity verification for unemployment claims, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlTXOaK-H9o

Ugh, I've been there. It's such a pain! Here's what worked for me: • Call EDD first thing in the morning (like 8:01 AM) • Have ALL your docs ready - ID, SSN card, birth certificate, everything • Ask specifically what they need to verify your identity • Be super patient and polite (even tho it's frustrating) • Follow up immediately with any extra info they request It took me about 2 weeks to get it sorted, but I finally got through. Don't give up!

This is great advice! I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you talked to. It helped me when I had to escalate my case.

2 weeks?! You're lucky. I've been waiting for over a month now. 😭

Oh no, a month?! That's awful. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy...

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they give you a specific time when you'll get the call?

0 coins

Sure! You choose a time window, and they start calling then. When they get an agent, they connect you. You just have to keep your phone free during that time.

have u tried uploading ur docs to the online portal? sometimes that works faster than calling

This whole system is a joke. They make it so hard on purpose I swear. 🤬

Preach! 👏👏👏

It's not a bug, it's a feature 🙄

I had this issue last year. Turns out there was a typo in my SSN on file. Double-check all your info is correct!

Oh wow, I hadn't even thought of that. I'll definitely check. Thanks!

Anyone else notice that the verification process got way stricter after all those fraud cases last year? It's like we're all guilty until proven innocent now smh

0 coins

Yeah, I heard they implemented some new AI system to catch fraud. Probably why more legit claims are getting flagged too.

Great, so now we're at the mercy of some algorithm. Just what we needed 🙃

Pro tip: if you're having trouble uploading docs online, try a different browser or clear your cache. The EDD website is notoriously glitchy.

Guys, I'm telling you, snail mail is the way to go. I sent in physical copies of my docs and got verified in like a week. Sometimes old school works best!

0 coins

Really? That seems so counterintuitive in 2023 lol

0 coins

I know right? But I swear it worked. Just make sure to send it certified so you have proof they received it.

Has anyone tried going to an actual EDD office in person? wondering if thats faster

0 coins

I tried that last month. Waited in line for 3 hours only to be told I needed an appointment. Total waste of time.

Oof, that sucks. Thanks for the heads up tho!

@Dylan Cooper - I went through the exact same thing a few months ago! The key is persistence and having multiple backup plans. Here's what finally worked for me: 1. Try the ID.me verification if you haven't already - sometimes it works better than EDD's own system 2. If that fails, gather EVERYTHING: driver's license, passport, utility bills, bank statements, tax returns - the more official docs the better 3. Call the technical support line (not the general number) - they're more equipped to handle verification issues specifically 4. Document everything - screenshot error messages, keep notes of who you talk to and when The whole process took me about 3 weeks, but I did get it resolved. Don't panic - this is unfortunately super common right now. You've got this! 💪
