EDD Identity Verification Error: Different Addresses on License vs. ID Card - Help Needed

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my identity verification for my unemployment application. When I try to verify, I keep getting an error code. I think it might be because the address on my driver's license is different from the one on my ID card. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any advice on how to fix it?

I found a way to solve EDD identity verification errors, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw_cA7GUpV0

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website always seems to crash right when you're about to submit something important? It's like they're trolling us 😀

Yup, happened to me too! Try accessing the site during off-peak hours.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!

I know it sounds weird, but I swear it's legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

While Claimyr seems to be useful for some, be cautious and make sure you're comfortable with the service before spending money.

Plot twist: the error code is actually a secret message. Quick, someone get the decoder ring! πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

Congrats! Any tips for the rest of us?

Honestly? Just keep calling and uploading docs. Eventually it'll work. It's a numbers game.

Persistence is key. Also, document every stepβ€”you might need it if issues arise again.

Have you tried updating your address with the DMV first? That might help sync everything up in the system.

0 coins

Good point! Ensuring all your documents match can avoid discrepancies.

Ugh, I had the same issue! It's so frustrating. Have you tried calling EDD directly? They might be able to help you sort it out over the phone.

0 coins

Calling them directly is a good move. Also, try to call them right when they open in the morning for a better chance to get through quickly.

Pro tip: if you call right when they open, you have a better chance of getting through. Set your alarm early!

Yes! Early morning calls often have shorter wait times.

Yo OP, any update? Did you get it sorted?

I've been through this before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your identification documents (driver's license, ID card, passport if you have one, birth certificate, etc.) 2. Call EDD and explain the situation 3. They might ask you to upload additional documents to verify your identity 4. Be patient and persistent - it might take a few calls to get it sorted Don't give up! It's a pain, but you'll get through it. Good luck!

Thanks for the detailed advice! Did you have to mail in any documents or was it all online?

β€’

In my case, it was all online. But I've heard some people had to mail stuff in. Best to ask EDD directly what they need from you.

Document all interactions with EDD. It might come in handy if you need to escalate your case.

Humor aside, sometimes a system reset does work. Maybe clear your browser cache and try again.

Serious question: has anyone tried contacting their local representative about these issues? They might be able to put pressure on EDD to fix their system.

0 coins

I did! My rep's office was actually super helpful. Def worth a shot.

β€’

Classic EDD nonsense πŸ™„ Their system is always messing up. I swear they make it hard on purpose to discourage people from applying.

I had a similar issue with mismatched addresses on my documents. What worked for me was getting a certified copy of my most recent utility bill or bank statement that matches one of the addresses, then calling EDD to explain the discrepancy. They were able to manually verify my identity once I provided the additional proof of residence. It took about 2 weeks to resolve, but it's definitely fixable. Make sure to have all your documents ready when you call - they'll want to see everything at once.
