IDme verification issues with PA UC after moving - no current address proof
Got let go from my warehouse job yesterday (ugh, no warning at all) and immediately tried filing for PA unemployment online. Everything was going fine until I hit the IDme verification step - now I'm completely stuck! I just moved to a new apartment last month and literally NOTHING has my current address on it yet (mail still forwarding, haven't updated license, etc). The system keeps rejecting my verification because my address doesn't match what's on my documents. Is there any way to bypass this IDme nonsense? Can I go to an actual UC office somewhere and verify my identity in person? Or maybe call someone who can override this in the system? This is so frustrating because I know I'm eligible but can't even submit my initial claim! I'm worried about losing benefits for weeks I should be getting paid for. Has anyone dealt with this address verification problem before?

•3 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long! I have rent due in 2 weeks and literally just paid all my moving expenses. This is a nightmare.

You actually have a few options here: 1) You can use your lease agreement as proof of address with IDme if it shows your name and current address 2) If you've set up any utilities at your new place (electric, internet, water), you can use those statements even if they're electronic 3) You can request an in-person appointment at your local PA CareerLink office - they can help with identity verification issues Don't worry too much about "losing benefits" for these weeks. Once your identity is verified, your claim will be backdated to when you first became eligible (your layoff date). Just make sure you're still filing your weekly certifications even while this gets sorted out!

•Thank you!!! I do have my lease and I set up internet service, but IDme wouldn't accept the PDF of my lease for some reason. I'll try again with the internet bill. If that doesn't work, I'll try CareerLink. Appreciate the info about backdating - that's a huge relief!

The IDme verification is definitely challenging in situations like yours. In addition to what's been suggested, here's what I'd recommend: 1. Try using the IDme video chat verification option - it's hidden in their help section but allows you to speak with a real person who can verify your identity using multiple forms of ID, even if your address doesn't match everything 2. Make sure you're entering your new address in PA UC's system exactly as it appears on whatever document you're using (including apartment numbers, directions, etc.) 3. If you have a bank account, you can often change your address online and immediately download a statement with your new address 4. For more complex ID verification issues, you can request to speak with an ID verification specialist at PA UC by calling the main number, but getting through can be extremely difficult

•I went through this exact nightmare last year. If you're having trouble getting through to someone at the UC office (which you probably will), I found a service called Claimyr that actually worked for me. They'll get you through to a real UC agent who can help with ID verification issues. I was skeptical but after 3 days of constant busy signals, I tried it and got through in about 20 minutes. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo of how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Might be worth checking out if you keep hitting walls with IDme. The UC agent I spoke with was able to note my account about the address verification issue.

When I had this problem, I wound up going to my local post office and filling out an official change of address form IN PERSON. They gave me a receipt with my new address printed on it, which IDme accepted as proof of address. It was the only thing that worked for me, and it only took about 15 minutes at the post office. Worth a shot!

•This is actually brilliant advice. I did the same thing but for diffrent reason. Post office forms are official government documents so IDme has to accept them!!

•Yes! The post office trick worked perfectly! I went in person, filled out the change of address form (even though I'd already done it online), and they gave me an official receipt. IDme accepted it right away and I was able to complete my claim. The whole verification process took about 2 days after that, and now my claim is being processed. Definitely recommend doing this BEFORE you move if possible.

Just as a follow-up tip for anyone else reading this thread with similar issues - once you get your IDme verification sorted out, make sure you immediately do these things: 1. Update your address with PennDOT for your driver's license/state ID 2. Update your address with the voter registration office 3. Make sure you've completed BOTH the mail forwarding AND the official change of address with USPS Doing these three things will save you countless headaches with government services like UC in the future. PA's systems all talk to each other, so consistency across these databases is important.

•Great advice. I'd also add that you should update your address with your bank immediately, as PA UC sometimes cross-references banking information during identity verification processes. And keep electronic copies of all your address change confirmations in a folder you can easily access - you'd be surprised how often you need to prove your address changes for various government services.

One more option that worked for me when I was in a similar situation - if you have any subscription services (Netflix, gym membership, etc.) that you've already updated with your new address, some of those can work as proof of residence too. I used my gym membership confirmation email that showed my new address and IDme accepted it. Also, if you've registered to vote at your new address (which you can do online in PA), that registration confirmation can sometimes work as well. The key is just having SOMETHING official with your name and new address on it, even if it's not a traditional utility bill or lease.
