PA UC weekly claim blocked by ID.me error A0104 - stuck in endless loop
I'm about to throw my laptop out the window trying to file my weekly PA unemployment claim! After being off UC for several months, I went to file this week but can't get past the ID.me verification. I completely forgot my password (of course) so I tried to reset it. Now I'm trapped in this nightmare loop with error code A0104 every single time. I've tried on my home computer, my phone, even went to the public library thinking it was my internet - same error everywhere! I've submitted FOUR support tickets to ID.me and all I get are useless automated responses with generic troubleshooting tips I've already tried. The system either shows the A0104 error or sometimes tells me my email doesn't even exist (it definitely does - I've been getting their unhelpful emails). I'm desperate because my rent is due next week and I NEED this claim to go through. Has anyone else dealt with this ID.me error? Any actual solutions besides their useless ticket system? Am I going to have to physically go to a CareerLink office to fix this?

•Video chat verification?? Where did you find that option? The system won't even let me get that far - just keeps kicking me back to the login page with that stupid error code.

The A0104 error usually means there's an account security issue. Here's what worked for me: 1. Clear ALL browser cookies and cache completely 2. Try using a different browser entirely (Firefox if you were using Chrome) 3. Make sure you're not using a VPN or incognito mode 4. Request password reset from a desktop computer only (mobile can cause issues) 5. Check your spam folder for reset emails 6. If you've moved recently, your IP address change might be triggering security flags If none of that works, you need to call PA UC directly about bypassing the ID.me requirement. They can sometimes process your weekly claim over the phone when ID.me is malfunctioning.

•Thanks for these tips! I've tried most of these already (clearing cache, different browsers, etc.) with no luck. I'll try disabling my VPN though - didn't think about that. And I didn't know UC could bypass the ID.me requirement. I'll try calling tomorrow, though I usually get endless busy signals when I call them.

Am I the only one who thinks the whole ID.me system is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE?? I've been on unemployment 3 times over the years and every single time there's some new verification system that doesn't work properly. First it was those stupid PINs that never came in the mail, then it was the security questions nobody could remember, now it's this ID.me nightmare. The state pays millions for these systems that just lock people out of benefits they NEED TO SURVIVE. Makes me so angry.

•for real!!! and then they act like its OUR fault when their system doesnt work right. i hate how they make us jump through 500 hoops just to get what we're owed

I've helped several people with ID.me issues (I'm an employment counselor). The A0104 error specifically relates to account security verification failures. The most reliable solution is to: 1. Create a brand new ID.me account using a DIFFERENT email address 2. Complete the verification process with the new account 3. Once verified, contact PA UC to link your new ID.me to your unemployment account The old account is probably locked due to multiple failed attempts, and their support team is notoriously slow to resolve these issues. Starting fresh is unfortunately faster than waiting for them to fix it.

•I never thought of creating a completely new account! That's brilliant. But will UC allow me to link a different ID.me account to my existing claim? I'm worried they'll think I'm trying to commit fraud or something.

•Yes, they can link a new ID.me account to your existing claim. Just explain that you had technical issues with the previous one. The UC representatives can see notes about ID.me errors in their system. Make sure to complete the full verification process on the new account, including uploading your ID and doing the face match, before contacting UC.

For what it's worth, I had a similar issue with ID.me a few weeks back. After days of frustration trying to get through to either ID.me support or PA UC, I found a service called Claimyr that got me connected to an actual UC agent within 30 minutes. Basically they hold your place in the phone queue and call you when an agent is about to answer. I was skeptical but it worked surprisingly well - the agent was able to override my ID.me issue and process my claim manually. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Saved me from missing another payment while waiting for ID.me to fix their system.

•I've never heard of Claimyr before. I'm definitely going to look into this because I've been trying to call UC for days with no luck. At this point I just need to talk to an actual human who can help me. Thanks for sharing this!

•Yeah it worked for me. You still might wait a bit depending on how busy the system is, but at least you don't have to sit there listening to hold music for hours. The agent I spoke with said they're actually trained on how to handle ID.me issues now because so many people have problems with it.

i had this same problem last year! the a0104 error is because ur account got flagged for suspicious activity or something. what fixed it for me was contacting them through twitter (weird i know). their support team on there responds way faster than email tickets. just send them a DM with ur ticket number and they usually respond same day

•Through Twitter? That's actually a great idea - I never would have thought of that. Do you remember what their Twitter handle is? I'll try DMing them right away.

Have you tried calling ID.me directly? Their phone support is slightly better than their ticket system. The number is 844-778-4363. Make sure you have your claim number, SSN, and any ticket reference numbers handy when you call. Also, even though this seems like an ID.me problem, you might want to contact your state representative's office. My brother was locked out of his UC benefits for weeks due to ID.me issues, and his state rep's office contacted UC on his behalf and got it resolved within 48 hours. They deal with this stuff all the time and have special channels to expedite these problems.

•I didn't even realize ID.me had a phone number! I'll definitely try calling them tomorrow. And contacting my state rep is a great idea if all else fails. Thank you for these suggestions!

this is why i always write down ALL my passwords in a notebook. everyone makes fun of me but then who's laughing when stuff like this happens? not saying it helps you now but maybe for next time...

•Writing passwords in a notebook is actually a HUGE security risk. What if someone breaks into your house? Or what if there's a fire? All your accounts are compromised! You should use a password manager like LastPass or 1Password instead. MUCH safer.

UPDATE: I wanted to thank everyone for the help! I tried a combination of approaches: 1. First I tried calling ID.me directly using the number someone shared - was on hold forever but no luck 2. Then I DMed them on Twitter like someone suggested - they actually responded within a few hours! 3. Meanwhile I used Claimyr to connect with PA UC and explained my situation Between the Twitter response from ID.me and talking to an actual UC rep, I got it sorted out. The UC agent was able to temporarily bypass the ID.me requirement so I could file my weekly claim while we get the ID.me issue permanently fixed. What a relief! For anyone else hitting this error - definitely try reaching out through social media AND getting through to an actual UC agent rather than just submitting tickets. Makes a huge difference!

•Glad to hear you got it resolved! This is actually helpful information for others who might face the same issue. I'm going to bookmark this thread in case any of my friends run into similar problems.

•THIS IS EXACTLY what I mean about their systems being garbage. You shouldn't have to contact them through TWITTER of all places to get basic customer service. And the fact that UC can just "bypass" ID.me proves the whole thing is just a hoop to jump through. But I'm glad you got your claim filed at least!

So glad you got this resolved! I've been dealing with ID.me issues for weeks and this thread is a goldmine of actual useful advice. I'm definitely going to try the Twitter approach - never would have thought of that. It's crazy that we have to jump through so many hoops just to access our own benefits, but at least there are workarounds. Thanks for sharing the update and what actually worked!

•Right?? This whole thread should honestly be pinned or something because it has way more useful info than anything on the official PA UC website. I never knew about the Twitter support or services like Claimyr - these are the kinds of real solutions people actually need when they're stuck in these bureaucratic nightmares. Bookmarking this for sure in case I run into issues again!
