EDD CA ID verification issue - can't complete unemployment claim

Hey everyone, I'm having a really frustrating time with my unemployment claim. I'm trying to file but the system won't let me finish because of an issue with my California ID. It's not going through for some reason and I can't complete the identity verification. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any advice on what I should do next?

Austin Leonard

Ugh, I feel your pain! I had a similar issue last month. Have you tried calling EDD directly? They might be able to help you verify your identity over the phone.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did you have to wait for the callback?

It took about 2 hours for me, but beats spending all day trying to get through!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents: CA ID, Social Security card, and any other identification you have. 2. Take clear, well-lit photos of these documents. 3. Try uploading them again to the EDD website. Sometimes it's just a temporary glitch. 4. If that doesn't work, you might need to verify your identity through ID.me. Check if there's an option for that on the EDD site. 5. As a last resort, you may need to mail in physical copies of your documents to EDD. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating but keep at it.

This is solid advice. I'd add that sometimes using a different browser or clearing your cache can help too.

Have you checked if your CA ID is expired? That could be why it's not going through. I had to renew mine before I could complete the verification.

Oh man, I didn't even think of that. I'll check right now. Thanks!

Hey OP, just wondering - did you try using the mobile app? Sometimes it works better than the website.

I didn't know there was an app! I'll give it a try, thanks for the suggestion.
