EDD CA ID Verification Error - Can I Use Permanent Residency Card Instead?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble verifying my identity online for my application. When I try to enter my California ID number, it keeps giving me an error. Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm wondering if I can use my permanent residency card instead. Any advice on how to get this sorted out?

Ugh, I had the same problem last month. It's so frustrating! Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes the online system just doesn't work right.

•I've been trying to call but can't get through. The hold times are insane! 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through in like 15 minutes that way.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did you have to wait for the callback?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but beats sitting on hold all day!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then attempt the online verification again. 2. If that doesn't work, you can request an identity verification by mail. Go to the EDD website and look for the 'Request Identity Verification' form. 3. Fill out the form and include copies of your California ID AND your permanent residency card. 4. Mail it to the address provided on the form. 5. Be patient - it can take 2-3 weeks for them to process mailed verifications. If you absolutely need to speak with someone, keep calling. Use the trick of pressing 0 or saying 'agent' at every prompt. Sometimes that helps you bypass the automated system. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add that you should also check your ID expiration date. If it's expired, that could be causing the error.

Have you tried using a different browser? Sometimes Internet Explorer (I know, ancient) works better with government sites.

•3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

Plot twist: the error is actually a feature to discourage people from applying 🤔

Hey, I work in IT (not for EDD tho). Sometimes these errors can be caused by special characters in your name or address. Try entering everything in all caps with no punctuation. It's a long shot, but it's worked for some people I know.
