DEO suddenly requiring ID verification again after weeks of claiming - system glitch?

I'm completely confused and starting to panic. I've been claiming my unemployment benefits for the past 7 weeks without any issues, but when I logged in today to claim my weekly benefits, the system is suddenly asking me to verify my identity AGAIN! I already went through the whole ID.me process when I first applied back in February, uploaded all my documents, and got approved. Everything has been smooth until now. My rent is due in 5 days and I NEED this payment. Has anyone else experienced the system randomly asking for re-verification? Is this a glitch or did something happen to my account? What should I do?

This happened to me last month. It's actually a quarterly verification that DEO implemented to reduce fraud. When you've been on benefits for approximately 2-3 months, the system automatically flags your account for re-verification. It's annoying but normal. Just go through the ID.me process again and your account should be restored within 24-48 hours.

Thank you! That makes me feel better. Do you know if this will delay my payment this week? I'm really counting on it.

WRONG!!! It's NOT normal and NOT quarterly. The system is completely BROKEN. I've been on unemployment 3 times in Florida and this never happened before until this year when they changed the CONNECT system. The ID verification is supposed to be ONE TIME ONLY. When it asked me again, I called for 2 WEEKS straight with no answer. My benefits got suspended for almost a month because of their broken system!!! Don't listen to people saying this is normal!!!

Yikes, that sounds terrible! I've only been on unemployment for 2 months, so I wasn't aware this could happen. Did you finally get it resolved?

i had this happen 2 weeks ago, just did the verification again took like 10 mins, benefits came through normal time no delays. dont stress it

Thanks for sharing your experience. That's reassuring to hear. I'll try redoing the verification tonight.

Is your birth date the same as the current month? My case manager told me that sometimes the system triggers re-verification near your birthday as a security measure. Also happens if you've logged in from a different device or IP address recently. Just wondering if either of those might be the case for you?

My birthday isn't until November, but I did log in from my sister's house last week when my internet was down. I wonder if that triggered it?

After working in HR for 15 years and helping many employees with unemployment claims, I can tell you this is actually related to something specific. DEO implemented a new security protocol in 2025 that requires re-verification if: 1. You've logged in from a new device or location 2. There's been a change in your claim status 3. Random security sampling (happens to about 10% of claimants) 4. System maintenance triggers (which happened system-wide last weekend) The timing matches with their system maintenance, so it's likely #4. Complete the verification again as prompted, but if it doesn't resolve within 48 hours, you need to contact DEO directly. The key is getting through to a tier 2 representative who can manually override the verification flag in the system.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! I really appreciate you sharing your expertise. I completed the verification this morning, so hopefully it resolves in the next couple days.

If you need to reach DEO quickly about this, I'd recommend using Claimyr. After dealing with the same issue and trying for days to get through the regular phone line, I used their service and got connected to a DEO agent in about 20 minutes. They were able to manually clear the ID verification flag on my account. Saved me a ton of stress. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj

Does this actually work? I've heard mixed things about these services. Did they actually fix your account or just tell you to wait?

0 coins

Yes, it worked for me. The service just connects you with an actual DEO agent (they don't fix anything themselves). The agent I spoke with was able to see that I had already verified my ID previously and removed the flag from my account. My payment processed the next day.

This just happened to my cousin too! The whole Florida unemployment system is so frustrating. He said he redid the verification and then had to wait 5 days for it to process. Maybe try calling them? Although good luck getting through lol

5 days?! Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. My rent is due in 5 days so that would be cutting it way too close. I've been trying to call all morning but just getting busy signals.

Just want to follow up - after you complete the re-verification, be sure to log back into CONNECT and check your "Determination Status" tab. Sometimes the system requires you to acknowledge the verification results before it will allow you to claim weeks again. Also, if the system shows you as verified but still won't let you claim, try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser altogether. The CONNECT system sometimes gets stuck in weird states with certain browsers.

Thank you for the tip! I just checked and there's nothing in my Determination Status tab yet. I'll keep checking and try a different browser if needed.

So did anyone else notice that DEO is asking for way more verification documents than before? When this happened to me they wanted my driver's license AND passport AND a utility bill. Last time I only needed my driver's license. Is this happening to everyone?

same for me, had to upload like 5 different things last time. i think they changed the requirements in january

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know what happened. I completed the ID verification again yesterday morning, and this morning I checked my CONNECT account and everything is back to normal! I was able to claim my weeks without any issues. The payment is now showing as processed. Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

Great news! Glad to hear it resolved quickly for you. For future reference, always screenshot your confirmation number whenever you complete any verification or submit documentation to DEO. Those numbers can be invaluable if you need to follow up with a representative later.

This is such a relief to see your update! I'm actually going through the exact same thing right now - got the ID verification request yesterday out of nowhere after months of smooth claims. Your post helped me understand this might be more common than I thought. Quick question for anyone who's been through this - does the re-verification affect your benefit year end date at all, or does it stay the same? I'm worried this might somehow reset my claim timeline.

No, the re-verification won't affect your benefit year end date at all! I was worried about the same thing when this happened to me. Your benefit year is based on when you first filed your claim, and identity verification is just a security check - it doesn't reset or change any of your claim dates or remaining balance. You should be able to see your benefit year end date in your CONNECT account under the "Monetary Determination" section, and it should still show the same original date. Hope this helps ease your mind!

I've been following this thread as someone who went through the same thing a few months ago. One thing I'd add is to make sure you complete the ID verification during normal business hours (8 AM - 5 PM) if possible. I noticed that when I did it late at night, it took longer to process. Also, if you're using a mobile device, sometimes the ID.me process works better on desktop - I had issues with the photo upload quality on my phone. Just wanted to share what worked for me in case it helps others dealing with this frustrating situation!

Thanks for the helpful tips! I'm actually dealing with this ID verification issue right now too after seeing this thread. The timing suggestion about business hours is really smart - I was planning to do it tonight but I'll wait until tomorrow morning instead. And good point about using desktop vs mobile. I've had issues with document uploads on my phone for other things before, so I'll definitely use my laptop. It's frustrating that we have to deal with this at all, but at least knowing what to expect and having these workarounds makes it less stressful.

I went through this exact same thing about 6 weeks ago and it was terrifying at first! Like others have mentioned, it seems to be triggered by various factors - in my case it was after I logged in from a different location while visiting family. The good news is that once you complete the re-verification, it usually processes pretty quickly. I did mine on a Tuesday morning and was able to claim by Thursday. One tip that really helped me: make sure all your documents are crystal clear when you upload them. I had to redo it once because my driver's license photo was slightly blurry. Also, don't panic if the system shows "pending" for a day or two - that's normal. The whole process is definitely frustrating but it's become more routine than we'd like to admit. Hang in there!

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear from someone who went through this recently. I'm actually in a similar boat - just got hit with the ID verification request yesterday after being on benefits for about 2 months. Your tip about making sure documents are crystal clear is super helpful. I was planning to just use my phone to take quick photos, but after reading this I'll definitely scan everything properly on my computer instead. The "pending" status advice is good too - I tend to check the system obsessively when I'm worried about payments, so knowing that 1-2 days is normal will help me not panic. It's crazy how stressful these system glitches can be when you're relying on these benefits to pay bills!

I'm dealing with this same issue right now and this thread has been incredibly helpful! Just got the ID verification request this morning after claiming for about 8 weeks without problems. Based on everyone's experiences here, it sounds like this is unfortunately becoming pretty common with the CONNECT system. I'm going to follow the advice about doing it during business hours on desktop with high-quality document scans. It's frustrating that we have to go through this again, but at least now I know what to expect. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it really helps to know we're not alone in dealing with these system issues!

I'm so glad this thread exists too! I just went through the exact same thing last week - got the ID verification request completely out of nowhere after 6 weeks of smooth claims. I was honestly panicking because I thought my account got flagged for something serious. Following the advice from this thread, I did the verification during business hours on my laptop with high-quality scans, and it processed within about 36 hours. My payment came through normally after that. The whole experience is definitely nerve-wracking, but it seems like it's just become an unfortunate part of the process now. Good luck with yours - you've got this!

This thread has been so helpful! I'm a newcomer to unemployment benefits (just started my claim 3 weeks ago) and seeing this ID verification issue pop up has me worried it might happen to me too. Based on what everyone's shared, it sounds like this could potentially happen to anyone after a couple months on benefits. I'm going to screenshot all the great advice here about using desktop, business hours, high-quality scans, etc. just in case. It's reassuring to see that most people got it resolved within 1-2 days when they followed these tips. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences - it really helps those of us who are new to navigating this system!
