How to know if NY unemployment ID.me verification went through?
So I've been struggling with this verification thing for ny unemployment. Lost my job in October due to downsizing and applied for benefits right away. Everything was going smoothly until two weeks ago when they suddenly stopped my payments and told me I needed to verify my identity through ID.me. I completed all the steps on November 5th - uploaded my license, did the face scan, answered security questions, even had a video chat with someone. It seemed like everything went okay but my dashboard still says 'pending verification' when I log into my unemployment account. It's been 9 days now and still no payments. I've tried calling but can't get through to a real person. How do I know if my verification actually worked? Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm getting really worried because rent is coming up and I have no idea if or when my benefits will start again.

Same thing happened to me but took almost 3 weeks to resolve! The ID.me verification is supposed to send you an email confirmation once everything is complete. Check your spam folder? Once I got that email it still took NYSDOL another 5-7 days to update their system and start my payments again. The whole process is ridiculous.

•I did get an email from ID.me saying I was verified right after I did the video call. But when I log into my unemployment account nothing has changed. Should I just keep waiting?

•yeah unfortunately waiting is part of it... but if its been more than 2 weeks since the email you should try to reach someone. The system is so broken 🤮

•I waited 16 days after my ID.me verification email before my benefits started again. Pure torture! No communication from them at all!

I finally got through this nightmare! After trying to call dozens of times with no luck, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a live agent. Worth every penny since it got my benefits flowing again. They basically called for me, waited on hold, then connected me when a real person picked up. The agent I spoke with manually pushed my verification through and my payments started again 2 days later. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•sounds sketchy... does this actually work? I've been trying to call for weeks.

•Yeah it works! I was super skeptical too but I was desperate. Talking to a real agent was the only thing that fixed my issue - they could see in their system that I'd completed ID.me but it hadn't transferred to their system properly. They fixed it on the spot.

•this seems like an ad lol

•not an ad, just someone who was in the same situation and found something that worked. When you've been without money for weeks you'll try anything! talking to a human was the only way I got it resolved

•Just checked out claimyr.com and might try it. Been trying to reach someone for 3 weeks with no luck.

The whole verification system is completely messed up. I did my ID.me back in September and it took almost a month for it to fully process in their system. No one tells you but there are actually TWO verifications happening - one with ID.me and one where that info gets transferred to NYSDOL's system. Even when ID.me says your verified, NYSDOL might not have processed it yet.

Have you tried logging back into ID.me directly? Sometimes you can see your verification status there. Also check all your email folders including spam/junk - they should have sent you a confirmation. But honestly the best thing to do is KEEP CALLING until you reach a human. Do it early morning like 7:55am right before they open at 8.

•I've tried calling so many times! Either get a busy signal or wait on hold for hours and then get disconnected. It's driving me crazy.

•My trick was calling exactly at 8:02am. Not 8:00, not 8:05. Literally 8:02am. Got through after trying that for 3 days. Some weird glitch in their system or something 🤷♀️

This ID.me garbage is just another way for them to delay paying ppl there benefits. I swear the ny unemployment system is designed to make ppl give up. took me 6 weeks to get verified and I had to contact my state senator to finaly get it fixed.

•THIS!!! 💯 They hope we just give up. I've never been so frustrated in my life.

•Contacting your state rep is actually good advice. They have special contacts at NYSDOL that regular people can't reach. Smart.

Here's what you need to know about the NY unemployment verification process (I used to work in a related field): ID.me and NYSDOL are separate systems that have to sync data. Once you complete verification with ID.me, you should receive an email confirmation from them within 24-48 hours. This just means ID.me has verified you. However, this data needs to transfer to NYSDOL's ancient computer systems, which can take anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks. There's no way to check this status online - their system only updates once the entire process is complete. Your options are: 1. Wait (possibly several more weeks) 2. Keep calling NYSDOL (extremely difficult to get through) 3. Use a service like claimyr.com to connect with an agent who can manually check/update your status 4. Contact your state representative's office for assistance 5. Submit a written request for status update through the messaging system on your NYSDOL account Unfortunately, this process has gotten worse in the past year as they've added more verification steps without upgrading their technology. The ID.me verification is meant to prevent fraud but mostly just creates more headaches for legitimate claimants.

•Thank you for this detailed explanation! This makes more sense now. I think I'll try that claimyr service since I really need to get this resolved quickly.

•Option 3 worked for me. After weeks of trying to call myself, I used claimyr.com and finally talked to someone who fixed my issue in 5 minutes.

you might wanna check if u verified the right email with id.me. I had this same issue and turns out I used a different email for id.me than I did for my unemployment account. Had to get a rep on the phone to sort it out

Screenshot the email confirmation from ID.me if you got one! You'll need it as proof when you finally reach someone. I had to fight with them because their system didn't show my verification even though I had completed it.

•👆 This is super important advice! Document EVERYTHING with NYSDOL.

after id.me verifies you, theres actually ANOTHER verification that happens behind the scenes where nysdol has to match your id.me verification to your claim. this is where most people get stuck. you need to talk to someone to push it through that stage.

•Ugh that's so frustrating! How am I supposed to know all these hidden steps? No wonder so many people are having issues.

Don't be afraid to be persistent. I had to call 47 times before getting through to someone. The ID.me thing tripped me up for weeks but once I talked to an actual person they fixed it in minutes. Keep trying!

It took them 5 weeks to process my ID.me verification and I nearly got evicted waiting. The system is beyond broken. I ended up using claimyr.com to get someone on the phone who manually pushed it through. Suddenly all my back payments showed up two days later. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human.

•How does this claimyr thing work exactly?

•They basically call for you and wait on hold (which can be hours), then when a real person picks up, they connect you. Saved me from having to redial and wait on hold all day. Got a real person in about 45 minutes who fixed my issue.

One thing nobody tells you: if you log into ID.me directly (not through the NYSDOL link) you can see your verification status. If it shows verified there but not in your unemployment account, that means NYSDOL hasn't processed it yet. That's when you need to get on the phone with them.

•Just checked and ID.me shows I'm verified! So that means the holdup is definitely on NYSDOL's end. Thanks for this tip!
