Has anyone done ID.me verification for NY unemployment and not gotten confirmation?

I was certifying for my weekly benefits yesterday when ny unemployment system suddenly directed me to ID.me to verify my identity. I thought it was weird because I've been collecting for 3 months with no problems. Anyway, I went through all the steps - uploaded my drivers license, took the selfie, answered questions about my credit history. The system seemed to accept everything but didn't give me a confirmation at the end. It just sent me back to the unemployment site. Now I'm stressing because I don't know if it worked! It's been almost 24 hours and I haven't received any email confirming the verification was successful. My account says I'm still pending payment. Has anyone else gone through this? How long did it take for you to get confirmation that your identity was verified? Did you have to do anything else? I really need this weeks payment to make rent.

Yeah I had to do this back in October. The whole ID.me thing is super frustrating because they don't tell you what's going on. For me it took like 3 days to get the confirmation email, but then my payment came through the next day. I was freaking out too, but it eventually worked. Try checking your spam folder too, mine ended up there.

Thanks that makes me feel a bit better. I've been checking my spam folder like crazy. Did your payment status stay as pending during those 3 days?

Yep it was pending the whole time. literally the SECOND i got that confirmation email, my payment status changed to released. hang in there!

After fighting with the ny unemployment system for WEEKS with no luck getting through, I finally tried this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual agent who fixed my ID verification issue in minutes! Talking to an agent got my benefits released in 2 days instead of waiting weeks. The video explains it better than I can: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE - seriously was the only way I could talk to a real person who could help.

this sounds like a scam... does this actually work or are you just trying to get people to click on your link? šŸ‘€

Not a scam at all! I was desperate after waiting 3 weeks for my benefits. The service just calls the unemployment office for you and connects you when a real person answers. Saved me hours of holding and getting disconnected.

wait hold up - another unemployment 'hack'? these never work and the system is beyond broken. what makes this different?

I get the skepticism, but this isn't a hack - it's literally just a service that waits on hold so you don't have to. When they get a person, they transfer the call to you. That's it. My ID verification got cleared up because I finally talked to someone who could help.

So I was about to throw my phone after 4 hours on hold when my sister told me about this. Literally got connected to an agent in 45 minutes. Worth every penny when rent is due and ur waiting on benefits.

I did ID.me last week. No email confirmation either, but my payment processed anyway 2 days later. I think they dont always send the emails. Check your payment history on the ny unemployment site instead of waiting for an email.

So the ID.me thing is weird because they're a third party working WITH unemployment but not actually part of the system. I had to do this twice somehow?? The first time it didnt work and I had to call and have them reset it. Did you verify with a video call or just documents? The video call way seems to work better.

I just did the documents and selfie. They didn't give me a video call option that I saw. Should I try again or just wait?

Id wait at least 48 hours before doing anything. if nothing happens by then, try calling the unemployment office... but good luck with that šŸ˜

THIS IS HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS: ID.me verification for NY unemployment typically processes within 24-72 hours. Many people don't receive email confirmations despite successful verification. Here's what to know: ā€¢ ID.me and NYSDOL systems don't always communicate instantly ā€¢ Your account might show pending until the next business day even after successful verification ā€¢ You DON'T need to complete verification again unless specifically instructed ā€¢ If verification fails, you'll usually get an email about that specifically ā€¢ The best indicators are: your payment status changing from pending to released, or your ability to certify next week without being redirected If it's been more than 3 business days with no change, you probably need to speak with an agent. This is where most people get stuck because calling is nearly impossible. I recommend using claimyr.com - they'll wait on hold and connect you directly to an agent. It costs money but saved me weeks of waiting when I had a similar issue. Don't panic yet - most ID.me verifications go through even without confirmation emails. The system is overloaded but usually works eventually.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. This makes so much more sense now. I'll give it until Monday before I try calling.

This is the most helpful explanation I've seen of how this works. The unemployment website explains NOTHING šŸ™„

Anyone else notice how they ALWAYS make you do these ID verifications right when rent is due?? It's like they know exactly when to mess with your money šŸ¤”

OMG THIS!! Every single time I need the money the most, some new verification or "system update" happens. Its not a coincidence lol

conspiracy theory: they do this on purpose to save money by delaying payments šŸ‘€

its because end of month is when most fraud happens. they increase security rite when scammers try to hit most accounts

I never got an email from ID.me but my payment went through anyway. Their system is buggy af. But my friend had to do a video call with them when the automated system couldn't verify her. took forever but eventually worked.

Their entire system is broken, ID.me included. I'm so sick of it all. Been jumping through hoops for 2 months now. First they needed ID verification, then employment verification, then MORE ID verification. I swear they do this hoping people will just give up.

facts. the whole system is designed to be so frustrating that people stop claiming even when they deserve benefits.

Try claimyr.com - only way I finally got all my verification issues fixed was talking to an actual person

Same thing happened to me! No confirmation but my payment processed 3 days later. I think the system is just overwhelmed and they dont bother sending emails for successful verifications, only for failed ones.

Pro tip: if you dont hear anything in 2-3 days, call the ny unemployment fraud department directly instead of the main line. They pick up faster and can see if your id.me verification went through. Their number is sometimes easier to get through on.

do you have that number handy?

I don't have it saved anymore but if you google ny unemployment fraud department it should come up. Just make sure you're calling the official number from the .gov site

Nyone else get an error when trying to upload documents to ID.me? The system kept crashing on me when I tried to upload my license. Had to use the app instead of the website to get it to work.

omg yes! their website is garbage. The app worked better for me too

I had the same issue back in February. No confirmation email but my claim processed anyway. Don't stress too much yet - their communication is terrible but the system usually works in the background. If you're really worried, you can try reaching them on Twitter. They sometimes respond there faster than phone.

When did u submit ur verification? If it was on a Friday or weekend it won't process until Monday or Tuesday, thats what happened to me

-

Ellie Perry

I did it Thursday evening around 7pm. So maybe that's why it's taking longer?
