Unemployment claim issues - denied, overpayment, or something else?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment claim and I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone else had problems with their claim recently? I'm wondering if it's related to a denial, overpayment, or something else. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel you. The unemployment system is such a mess right now. What exactly is going on with your claim? Have you received any notices or letters from the unemployment office?

Thanks for responding! I haven't received any specific notices yet, but my payments have stopped coming in. I'm worried there might be an issue with my claim that I'm not aware of.

That sucks, man. Definitely sounds like something's up. Have you tried logging into your online account to check for any updates or messages?

Yeah, I've checked online but there's nothing new there. It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on!

I had a similar issue last month. Turns out there was an overpayment on my account that I didn't even know about. You might want to call and speak with a rep directly to get more info.

Calling the unemployment office is a nightmare tho š« I spent hours on hold last week and never got through. Anyone know a better way to contact them?

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/MCgaMJPY8Us

Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it's legit. I was desperate after trying to call for weeks and this saved me so much time and frustration.

Idk man, paying to talk to a government agency feels wrong. Shouldn't this be a free service?

I get where you're coming from, but for me, the time saved was worth the cost. Plus, I was able to finally resolve my issue, which was worth way more than $20 in the long run.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with unemployment issues for the past few months: ā¢ Always document everything. Keep copies of all your communications, claim forms, and payments received. ā¢ Check your online account regularly for updates or new messages. ā¢ If your payments stop suddenly, it could be due to a variety of reasons: eligibility issues, identity verification, or system glitches. ā¢ Try to call early in the morning or late in the afternoon for shorter hold times. ā¢ If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via email or their social media accounts. ā¢ Consider contacting your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help expedite unemployment issues. ā¢ Be patient but persistent. The system is overwhelmed, but don't give up on getting your benefits. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any specific questions.

has anyone else noticed that the online system is always "down for maintenance" when you actually need to use it? š feels like they're doing it on purpose sometimes i swear

omg yes!!! š¤ its so annoying. I swear they do maintenance at the worst possible times

Conspiracy theory: they're not actually doing maintenance, they just can't handle the volume of claims so they shut it down randomly š¤

Quick question - does anyone know if gig work affects unemployment eligibility? I've been doing some food delivery on the side and I'm worried it might mess up my claim.

It can affect your claim, but it depends on how much you're earning. You need to report any income, even from gig work. If you earn over a certain amount, it could reduce your weekly benefit or make you ineligible for that week.

Anyone else feel like they need a law degree to understand all these unemployment rules and regulations? š¤£ I'm lost half the time reading through the website!

Pro tip: if you're having trouble with your claim, try reaching out to your state representative's office. They sometimes have direct lines to the unemployment office and can help push things through faster.

This is actually really good advice. My cousin did this and got her issue resolved in like 2 days after waiting for weeks.

I'm in the same boat as OP. Been trying to figure out why my claim was denied for weeks now. This whole system is a joke tbh

Hang in there, man. It sucks but keep pushing. Have you tried appealing the denial?

Yeah, I filed an appeal but haven't heard anything back yet. It's been radio silence for almost a month now.
