Need help with EDD claim questions - can't get through on phone!

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment claim and I'm not sure what to do. I've been trying to get through to someone on the phone but it's been impossible. Does anyone have any advice on how to get answers about my claim? I'm really worried about the payment amounts and timeframes. Any help would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with claim issues for months now. It's like trying to talk to a brick wall sometimes. Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried emailing but haven't heard back yet. How long did it take for them to respond to you?

It took about 2 weeks for me to get a response. Not great, but better than nothing I guess šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

2 weeks? You're lucky! I've been waiting for a month and still crickets šŸ¦—

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy...

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can you give more details about how it works? Like, do you have to give them your personal info?

Nah, you just put in the number you want them to call and pay. They do all the waiting and menu navigation for you. When they get a real person, they connect you. Simple as that.

Have you tried going to your local unemployment office in person? Sometimes face-to-face interactions can get you further than phone calls or emails.

I didn't even think about that! Do you know if they're open with all the COVID restrictions?

Last I checked, most offices were open but with limited capacity. Might wanna call ahead or check their website to be sure.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before and I've got some tips that might help: • First, document EVERYTHING. Every call, email, letter - keep a record. • Try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch them with shorter wait times. • If you get through to someone who can't help, politely ask to be transferred to a claims specialist. • Check your online account regularly for updates or messages you might miss. • If you're really stuck, consider reaching out to your local state representative. They sometimes have connections that can help push things along. • Don't give up! It's frustrating as hell, but persistence pays off. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for all this info! I'll definitely start keeping better records. Have you had any luck with contacting state reps?

Yeah, actually. My cousin reached out to our state senator's office and they were able to escalate his case. Took about a week, but he finally got some answers. Worth a shot!

Preach! šŸ™Œ It's like they want us to give up so they don't have to pay out

C'mon guys, it's not a conspiracy. The system is just overloaded and underfunded. Still sucks tho

Hey OP, what specific questions do you have about your claim? Maybe we can help if you give us more details.

I heard theres a Facebook group for unemployment issues in our state. Might be worth checking out for more localized advice

Oh that's a great idea! Do you know what it's called?

I think its something like "[State] Unemployment Support Group" but I'm not 100% sure. Just search for unemployment and your state name, you should find it

Has anyone tried the online chat feature on the unemployment website? I've had some success with that in the past.

I tried it but kept getting disconnected. Super frustrating 😤

I'm new here but going through the same nightmare! Been trying to reach EDD for weeks about my pending claim. Reading through all these suggestions is really helpful - I had no idea about contacting state reps or that there might be Facebook groups for this. @Aisha Hussain have you made any progress since posting this? Also curious if anyone knows the best time of day to try the online chat that @Dmitry Smirnov mentioned. This whole process is so stressful but at least we're not alone in this struggle!

Welcome to the struggle bus! šŸ˜… I've been dealing with EDD issues for about 6 weeks now. From what I've learned lurking here, early morning (like 8-9 AM) seems to be the best time for online chat - that's when they're less swamped. Also, @Mei Wong s'advice about documenting everything is spot on. I started keeping a spreadsheet with dates, times, and who I talked to. It s'actually helped me track patterns in when I m'more likely to get through. The Facebook group suggestion is brilliant too - I found one for my county and they post updates about system outages and stuff. Hang in there! šŸ’Ŗ

Hey @Mila Walker! Welcome to the group - sorry you're dealing with this too but you're definitely not alone. I've been fighting with EDD for about 2 months now and this community has been a lifesaver. @Javier Hernandez is right about the early morning thing - I ve'had better luck with chat around 8 AM. Also wanted to add that if you re'going to try that claimyr service @Yuki Sato mentioned, maybe wait a bit and see if the free methods work first? I m still'on the fence about paying for something that should be free. Keep us posted on how it goes!

@Mila Walker welcome to the club nobody wants to be in! šŸ˜” I ve'been battling EDD for about a month myself and this thread has been incredibly helpful. Just wanted to add that I ve'found Tuesday and Wednesday mornings tend to have shorter wait times - weekends and Mondays are absolutely brutal. Also, don t'forget to check your EDD inbox regularly because sometimes they send important notices that can get buried. One thing that helped me was setting up alerts on my phone to remind me to check every few hours. The system is definitely broken but seeing people like @Sofia Torres finally get approved gives me hope. We got this! šŸ’Ŗ
