EDD claim confusion - need help straightening out my unemployment benefits!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment claim and I'm really confused. I filed a while back but now there's some kind of mix-up. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get it straightened out? I've been trying to get through on the phone but no luck so far.

Ugh, welcome to the club. π I've been dealing with claim confusion for MONTHS. It's like they purposely make it impossible to get a straight answer. Have you tried checking your online account for any updates or messages?

β’Yeah, I've checked online but everything looks normal there. That's why I'm so confused! It's like they're saying one thing online and another when I finally get through to someone (which is rare).

β’Same boat here. The online system is useless half the time. I swear it's designed to make us give up π€

β’Totally agree. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our benefits. Keep pushing though, sometimes you get lucky and find a helpful person on the other end!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

β’I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. It actually did work for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it if you're stuck like I was.

β’Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. Has anyone else tried this?

β’I get the skepticism, but it's legit. They have a money-back guarantee if it doesn't work. Honestly, after weeks of trying to get through, I'd pay double that to avoid the headache.

Here's what worked for me to straighten out my claim confusion: 1. Document everything: Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 2. Be persistent: Call every day if you have to. Sometimes you get different answers from different reps. 3. Use social media: Tweet at your state's unemployment office. Sometimes they respond faster there. 4. Contact your local representative: They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 5. Check for identity verification issues: A lot of claims get held up because of ID problems. 6. Double-check all your submitted info: One small error can cause big delays. 7. Request a callback: Some states have this option now, and it's way better than waiting on hold. Hope this helps! Don't give up, it's frustrating but you'll get it sorted eventually.

β’Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try the social media route, hadn't thought of that. Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out.

The whole system is a joke. I've been trying to sort out my claim for 3 months now. Every time I call, I get a different answer. It's like playing unemployment roulette. π°π«

β’Preach! π I swear they're trained to give conflicting info just to mess with us.

Hey OP, when did you originally file your claim? There were some system updates a few months back that caused a lot of confusion. Might be related to that.

β’I filed about 4 months ago. Didn't know about any system updates though. That could explain a lot!

β’Yep, that timing lines up. A bunch of claims got messed up during the update. Definitely mention this when you finally get through to someone!

pro tip: call exactly at 8:01 AM when they open. I always get through within 15 minutes that way. good luck!

Have you checked if there's an ombudsman office for unemployment issues in your state? They can sometimes help cut through the red tape.

β’I hadn't even heard of an ombudsman before. I'll look into that, thanks for the suggestion!
