Unemployment claim denied due to incorrect work year - need advice on fixing this with EDD
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. The year I worked for a company was reported incorrectly, and now my benefits have been denied. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of issue? Any advice on how to get this fixed when I call them?

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar problem last year. Here's what I did: 1. Gather all your employment documents (W2s, pay stubs, etc.) for the correct year. 2. Call the unemployment office (be prepared to wait forever 🙄) 3. Explain the situation calmly and ask them to update your record 4. Request a review of your claim once the info is corrected 5. Follow up in a week if you don't hear back Good luck! The system is a mess, but don't give up!

•This is solid advice! I'd add: take notes during the call, including the name of who you spoke to. It helps if you need to follow up later.

•Thanks so much! This is really helpful. I'll definitely gather all my docs before calling. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly! 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/MCgaMJPY8Us

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•$20?! That's highway robbery! The system is so broken that we have to PAY just to talk to someone? 😡

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After trying for weeks to get through, I was desperate. Yeah, it sucks to pay, but it saved me hours of frustration.

•I used it too. Worth every penny tbh. Got my issue resolved in one call after weeks of trying.

This happened to me! Turns out it was a glitch in their system. When you call, ask them to check if there's been any known issues with employment year reporting. Sometimes they don't even know about these problems unless we point them out. 🕵️♀️

•Oh wow, I hadn't even considered it might be a system glitch. I'll definitely ask about that when I call. Thanks for the tip!

•Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

Quick question - did you file your claim online or over the phone? I've heard the online system is more prone to these kinds of errors.

•I filed online. Maybe that's where the problem started. I'll mention that when I call too.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch them when it's less busy. Also, Wednesdays seem to be a good day for some reason. 🤷♂️
