EDD claim shows wrong return-to-work date - How will this affect my benefits?
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my unemployment claim. The return-to-work date on my claim is incorrect, and I'm not sure how this might affect my benefits. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? I'm planning to call and speak with an agent about it, but I wanted to see if anyone here had any insights or experiences to share. Thanks in advance for any help!

Ugh, dealing with incorrect info on ur claim is THE WORST. š« I had a similar issue last year with my weekly benefit amount being wrong. Definitely call and talk to someone ASAP. The longer u wait, the more of a headache it becomes to fix.

ā¢Agreed! I waited too long to fix an error on my claim and it was a nightmare. Don't put it off, OP!

ā¢Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure to call them right away. Did it take long for them to fix your issue?

ā¢It took about 2 weeks for them to sort it out completely. But the sooner u start the process, the better!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

ā¢Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

ā¢How long did you have to wait for the callback?

ā¢It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to call yourself all day!

Here's what you need to know about incorrect return-to-work dates on your claim: ⢠It can affect your benefit payments if the date is earlier than it should be ⢠It might impact your eligibility for certain extensions ⢠If the date is later than it should be, you could potentially receive benefits you're not entitled to When you call, make sure to: 1. Have your claim number ready 2. Explain clearly when your actual return-to-work date should be 3. Ask how this will impact your current and future benefits 4. Request a written confirmation of the change Good luck!

Quick question - how did you notice the return-to-work date was wrong? I should probably double-check mine...

I had this exact same problem last month! Here's what I did: 1. Called the EDD (took forever to get through) 2. Explained the situation 3. They updated it on the spot 4. Got a confirmation email the next day The whole process was actually pretty smooth once I got someone on the line. Hang in there!

ā¢That's great to hear it went smoothly for you! Fingers crossed I have the same experience. How long did it take you to get through on the phone?

ā¢Honestly, it took me about 3 days of constant redialing. But once I got through, the rep was super helpful!

am i the only 1 who thinks the whole system is broken? š¤ like, why do we have to jump through so many hoops just to fix a simple error? its ridiculous

Pro tip: Keep a detailed log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what was said. It'll save you a lot of headaches if you need to follow up or if there are any discrepancies later on.

Has anyone tried reaching out to their local assembly member's office for help? I've heard they can sometimes intervene and speed things up with EDD.

ā¢I did this last year and it actually worked! Took about 2 weeks, but they helped push my case through.

I went through this exact same situation a few months ago! My return-to-work date was off by almost 3 weeks, which would have cut my benefits short. Here's what worked for me: I called first thing Monday morning at exactly 8am (they open at 8) and got through after about 45 minutes of redialing. The key is persistence! When I finally got a rep, I had all my documentation ready - my termination letter, any correspondence from my employer, etc. They were able to correct it during the call and I got an updated notice in the mail within a week. The rep told me that incorrect dates are pretty common due to employer reporting errors or system glitches. Don't stress too much about it affecting your benefits as long as you get it fixed quickly. They can adjust any payments retroactively once the correct date is in the system. Good luck! š¤
